i believe there was a change in the act where you can be issued with a fine or summons up to 14 days after an incident some one care to clarify on this?

Depends on the state and the circumstances.

In NSW a summons/Future service can may be issued up to 6 months after the offence.

I'm working for a firm of solicitors now. Milne Berry Berger and Freedman. We've done our fair share of traffic law but we do lots of other stuff too.

I'd also recommend Shaun Titmarsh of Baker Ryrie Rickards Titmarsh as a traffic lawyer. I've sent a few friends to him over the years.

On the hunt for a lawyer now as well.

Was allegedly doing 30 over. $855 fine and 5 points. I asked the officer if my licence would be suspended he said no. Soi copped it and paid.

To my surprised i received a letter from rms with. . Yep. A notice of suspension *sigh* apparently it's a new thing now where they automatically suspend you. Gay.

Give Mark Stenberg a call; he has represented me several times with excellent results. He's a genuinely good guy who understands traffic matters, and is an avid Car and Motorbike enthusiast.

My suspicion is however; you may have nowhere to go, as paying the fine is effectively the equivalent of an admission of guilt.

Not long ago I wrote a report for a guy who was doing over 100 in a 60 zone at 5.30am. He sought advice from a solicitor who asked for a couple of character references and I was to furnish one of them.

Not long into quizzing my mate about circumstances I realised that I could build a case report around him having hypoglycaemia at that time in the morning whilst he'd skipped brekkie and his mother suffered diabetes. My mate usually doesn't speed according to himself; which I believe. In fact on Fb he abhors excessive speed on public roads.

Four hours of work into a report that's pretty much waterproof, his solicitor didn't want to use the report. He only wanted a character reference.

Privately I took the report (with name removed) to 2x traffic lawyers and both of them said my mate would have got off on a "Section 10" or a "Gilsons" with a reasonable judge.

Oh well - I wish him all the best anyway.
