Hey there.

Second post on the site and thought I'd share some photos of my in-progress stereo build.

Currently using:

Fusion CACD-500 Head unit

Pioneer TS-A1702c's front speakers

Pioneer TS-A1683s' center speakers (in the rear seat side plastics)

Pioneer TS-A6983s' 6X9" rear shelf speakers

Fusion EN-AM3002 amplifier (to run the 6X9"s)

2 Pioneer GM-D7400m amplifiers

2 Eclipse SW6210 4ohm DVC subs

Aerpro 1 farad capacitor and wiring kits

Roughly 1000w rms, thus i'm in the process of getting a 120a+ alternator and putting in a second battery

I still need to finish the floor section, build a battery enclosure with a decent clamp, add a boot light that works when it's (rarely) full, maybe change the front doors to fiberglass moulds and general tidy up work. But so far it sounds fantastic and i'm pretty happy with it.

Will post more pics when I get my lazy act together to finish everything.

Where are you getting the alternator from and how much?

Not sure yet. Thinking of retro-fitting a Bosch 150a since they're reliable and common for parts etc. if they do die. Alot of effing around with brackets etc. but I think it'd be worth the effort. Other than that there's a few on Ebay, and I think nengun lists them but the price is ridiculous.

nice setup man

Cheers mate. :P Spent another 4 hours at he shop tonight. Tidied up all the wiring etc and cleaned everything, now need to buy a universal fuse box that I can mount somewhere as the factory one is too bulky, so it's currently cable tied in. So close yet so far...

looks good. really neat set up in the boot too  . tbh you wont need a HO alt. You would only need one of them if your pushing around 10,000rms or more. I only got 5000rms in my car and i have no problems starting it. saying that i do have a second battery. But invest some money into a decent battery to sit in the boot. Also hop onto mobile electronics for some help.

Cheers, it looks alot better "in person", the carpet looks sorta tacky in the pics, but now that i've cleaned everything up and nearly finished it pending a fuse box, i'm really happy with it. Pretty sure I need a HO alt, the one on it is a 90a, and I think with [email protected] volts it takes about 70ish amps to run it, put the other loads, computer, ignition, fuel pump etc on that and the voltage starts to drop below the 12v line, headlights dim etc. A battery's just a storage device to start the car, the alt does the work after that. Are you running 5000w rms or max? That's a s***load of power! What's your setup? :D

5000rms lol. well i got a schnider SPA7000X,Fusion 2ch amp,kenwood 4ch amp, Polk audio MM's 6.5", Alpine type-R co-axil. Digital Design DDZ12. pusing around the low 150's in a corolla.

but im over sound lol im selling every thing off and going for speed

NICE! What are you running it off? Bulk batterys or? 5000w rms would have to be drawing 300+ amps at full noise....

well the schnider draws around 400+amps at full tilt. not the best amp lol

Im running the system off a fusion headunit LOL. I only got 2 batterys. One out of a commodore for the front and a 100A/H for the rear ( i mean rear lol). and i never get below 12.3V

Ah right, a 100 a/h, so around 700-800cca plus your other battery? That's why I need a decent alternator, I just want to keep my new compact 400cca battery to start the car, I don't run the stereo with the car turned off as once the amps detect anything below 11/12v they shut off to avoid cooking anything, plus it runs flat pretty quickly. Still looking for a 120a+ alt to put on it.

Yeah, the plan was to retro-fit something to it, I put a post up somewhere asking if anyone knows of a direct-fit alt for the RB25DE (i'm lazy lol) but if need be I'll just get something compact with a good output and fabricate a bracket and machine the pulley to fit.

i asked the same question but nothing much for a response

look at replacement alternators for the RB30 commonwhore if ur looking at new (more available and should be a direct fit more or less)

but if ur looking at a alternator from another make or model of car, ur guess is a good as mine

u should get ≈90A out of the stock R33 alternator so if ur looking at going bigger 120A or in my opinion ur just wasting ur time

Bit of an update, picked up 2 Fusion 10"'s for cheap and put them in the floor, wiring looks a bit tacky but will eventually figure out something neater. The floor panel lifts out with a 4 pin connector for the subs, so boot space IS available when I need it. Currently being underpowered by running the Fusion ch amp @2 ohms making about 180wrms into the 6X9's and the subs, yet they still make a noticeable difference:
