bozodos
isn't the only possible problem when the car changes hands? have any of you known of a cop to check engine numbers? lol Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/328552-rb30det-legally-allowed-in-a-r33-in-vic/page/2/#findComment-5351698 Share on other sites
ARTZ
isn't the only possible problem when the car changes hands? have any of you known of a cop to check engine numbers? lol HAha yeah i dont even know where my engine number is and I've pulled it half to bits, so doubt coppers gunna notice, just register it with original engine numbers and then i guess play dumb if you get caught.. I traded in an old pathfinder years back and got a call a few months later asking me if i had changed the engine, I knew nothing and had only ever changed the head, but apparently it was a stolen motor from another state so Vicroads didnt pick up on it 'but when they went to sell it in another state it showed up..Some poor guy had bought it and it was impounded on him when he went to get a roadworthy in SA..Well that was there story, load of BS i reckon cause i seen the car a few months later in Dandenong Seriously how many people actually check their engine number, very few i bet ,hell alot of people dont even know how to open the bonnet..usually just go by the ID tag on the body..Unless your going over the pits whos gunna know... krzysiu
Easy to do, no cop will tell you got an rb30 if you got a rb25 head on there. They dont know that the engine is a bit taller. Vic roads are dumb too. Like what we did we my brother engine conversion. Me: Hi, i would like to get my engine number changed, the last motor blew up and we just did a swap Vic roads lady: Oh alright, is it the same engine Me: Yes ( ) *Goes and gets engine number off block* Vic roads lady: Great can you just fill in this form and sign here Me, Yeap no problems, Cya later Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/328552-rb30det-legally-allowed-in-a-r33-in-vic/page/2/#findComment-5351817 Share on other sites

Rolls
Oh I dunno, a mate got his HR31 registered with a NEO motor in it in Victoria, the woman even went out and read off the engine number and entered it into the system LOL Yeah the numbers inspection places don't usually notice anything unless you get a guy who knows the nissan engine codes, I went in for one in my R32 skyline planning to have a full inspection (since passed) and they stamped red stamps all over the form saying no compliance plate, engine capacity increased by 25% needs full roadworthy, was no way of getting out of that one. During the inspection being a skyline they had 3 guys shining torches in every crevice of the motor making sure the carbon canister was attached, injectors were standard, even knew what colour the AFM sticker was meant to be, he even picked that I had a new turbo on there, but couldn't prove it as it was a highflow, the only thing they didn't do was open up my ECU and check inside. blk94r33
Apparently changing heads from single cam to twin hurts the environment according to Victoria EPA.In eyes of EPA in Victoria, twin cam RB30 doesn't exist thus the need for emission testing. The EPA totally knows what it's on about: http://epanote2.epa.vic.gov.au/EPA/Publica...6;FILE/1031.pdf Page 8, section 7: "An engine management system enables the engine to function with minimum emissions under a wide range of operating conditions. It also uses a variety of sensors to optimise combustion by altering how the engine operates, thus maximising fuel economy, engine power and engine life. A system that is not designed specifically for the engine it is fitted to is likely to increase emissions, reduce engine power, have poor fuel economy and reduce the life of the engine." That's right people! Your APFC or E-Manage is the reason you have no power! Rolls
I think they are talking about using a factory ECU from another motor, eg an rb20 ecu on an rb25 etc with no tuning done. I doubt it would even run but if it did then what they said is completely true. And that's the only reason they give against aftermarket ECU's.
