Hey

Im stripping my car back atm to get it painted in a few months time. I just pulled the door seals off, where the window seals onto when the door is shut with the window up, and also the seal around the door the seals in the door jam and goes up around as high as the mirror.

Also my windscreen and rear window and rear quatar glass seals are all in not the best nick. Just wondering what you guys have done when painting your cars. I do not want to remove the rear 1/4 windows, but is it mandatory to get the rear quater seals off? Sorry I dont have any pics atm but ill get some up.

I got a quote from nissan on the seals around the windows and they want around $550 one side and $720 the other side. I found them on import monster last week for $300 plus fees, commision and freight, so around $550 delivered... still VERY EXY.

Any cheap ways out or anything that might help?

I cant help but I can rule out most places here in Mackay. Someone with a maroon 32 searched for the same seals at several places and found nothing... except at nissan for around the prices you said

I can double check but pretty sure ringing around Brisbane or somewhere might be a better option... Have you tried Nizwreck or something for some decent second hand ones? They seem to be a pretty rare part... if only there was somehting like rarespares that catered to import nissans etc

Yeah slack for second hand ones, I think they're all just as bad as eatchother because just having the doors shut and the windows pushing in seals flattens it out over the years... New seals would make it look nice with fresh paint

yeh ive seen them a bit wrecked around the mirror and water leaks in behind them and rusts away the little part that supports the mirror, I checked mine on the 33 when i had the side mirror off once and it looks good so maybe its only a problem with the 32's?

Id suggest looking down south, hopefully someone on here has found some cheap cause they are a fair rip off from nissan

    • Ha ha ha, mine loves to spend, all on the dogs (they're our kids, and her spending would likely rival that of some people raising children!) the only benefit is, her spending is tax deductible as she runs a business in the dog industry 😛 The above all means she can spend race car budget quicker than I can. 😛 That and a lot of the things I want are very expensive, and I can be a bit "you want how much for that?!" And at other times overly impulsive. Or I start the w days of research, get to day 1.5 and get really annoyed that no one will advertise actual specifics and it's just marketting BS and I go "well, now I don't want anything to do with that now!" Also I hate paying lots of money for something I can make from $50 in materials. Then I get the shits halfway through making things and wonder why others who just buy parts have more fun... 😛
    • Their 240Z with the RB26 would be a real nice thing to have in a garage to come out for an occasional weekend cruise It's such a cool thing in so many ways Sadly, we have a blue 240Z shell that I walk past every day, just sitting outside a shed at work, it has been slowly disintegrating and falling apart into the ground for the last few years, the owner cannot be found, and I am unable to "claim it" I've been told by work and the RMS, the rust in the body is excessive though, and it has had most of the salvageable stuff, like panels, trim and switch gear stripped off it over the last year or two, work keeps threatening to put it in one of our metal scrap bins, I wish they did though, as it makes Mark sad walking past it
    • Good tips, I like it! 😂😂 My wife is a LOT more frugal than me so it's only me we need to worry about! A splurge to her is buying 2 pairs of socks in one visit at Kmart!
    • Haha, the appropriate response to the question "Is this new?" is "I've had this for a while.". With the unspoken small print that a while may be the time since this morning or five years ago   And to be fair I learned that from the best, i.e. my wife. Because it goes both ways.
    • Yeah kids certainly add a whole another dimension to your life.  Life ceases to be about you and more about them for a while!  And I wouldn't have it any other way.  I love watching them play sport and make new friends along the way. Wow, sounds like your mate is a good guy to know!!!  He's got some serious toys in the toy box!  Yes it would be lovely to be able to do stuff to your car without getting all tied up in boring shit like how to pay for it!!  I would describe my spending style as "aggressively spontaneous and logical but regrettable purchasing"....  That will hopefully make no sense at all which would be appropriate given that is how I buy stuff.  I'll decide at the drop of a hat that I'm buying something expensive, research the living shit out of it for 2 days straight then go out and buy it.  Then I'll have instant buyers remorse for 2 days which generally passes by the time it turns up on the front step!  If I'm feeling ballsy sometimes I'll tell my wife.  Other times it just makes its way silently passed the house and out the back to the shed, never to be spoken of again...
