Dash Cleaning

in a nutshell, the previous owner must have had his gps stuck to the dash. there is a white sticker / double sided tape / glue residue about the size of a 50cent coin that wont come off. I have tried everything..

orange cleaner (every sort of citrus cleaner)

even a scraping tool wont take it off

any suggestions / advice?

Buy a gps unit and stick it where the last owner did.

acetone or thinners? careful not to damage your dash though!

good old street directory has never failed me.

have tried thinners etc (my old man is a builder/painter/jack of all trades) he/i was suprised some of his hardcore stuff didnt even get rid of the slightest bit of glue..

try get your hands on some RRR or Rubber Roller Restorer - it softens the plastic and allows you to clean it

try a heat gun, but not to hot, try melt whatever it is

Tee Tree oil, i always used to use it to get old stickers of bmx's ect.

mmm this i haven't tried but i've got a heat gun so might try this at home.

if that fails ill try this RRR.

If the RRR isn't up to speed, then yes, Tea Tree Oil or Double D Eucalyptus Oil

ive tried the eucalyptus oil (it was in a can so not sure if its the good stuff)

will try the rrr and the tea tree oil..

Why don't you try spray something like carby cleaner and leave for a while to penetrate if you haven't tried already.

Dont know if it will work on vinyl, but i have in the past soaked glassware in hot water and washing soda crystals, when trying to get rid of that glue that seems to go rock hard on glass. After a few minutes in that it came off easy

On a dash you might have to apply it repeatedly to have the same effect, but worth a try as it costs begger all
