Getting sick of my polished cam covers as they always get dirty and need some elbow grease to make them shiny so wanting to go something like the rb26 have with the candy red colour. Now just wondering what paint to use, will a 2pack paint hold up to the heat? I know them engine enamel will but those colours are always kind of dull and plain and dont have that shiny look you get with 2 pack paints.

Duplicolor MetalCast is a great paint. Get hold of the metallic ground coat and the MetalCast Red. Stands up to high temperatures very well. I did my brake callipers in the red and they look really good. The paint provides an anodized finish that is very glossy and sparkles due to the metallic flakes in the ground coat. Take a look at this post which will show you the colour and how it can come out if done correctly.

I’ve used it on plastics (both textured and smooth surfaces) before with excellent results. When I painted smooth plastic, I first scuffed the surface lightly with some sandpaper and then applied the silver ground coat followed by the colour to ensure it would hang on. Apparently you can paint straight over chrome with this stuff.
