comparing stock wrx's...

i dont believe the boxer engine is inherently torquey, it all has to do with turbo size i reckon. lag between wrx models are largely dependent upon which model wrx you're talking about.

from 1993 to 1996 inclusive: wrx's were released with the td05 turbo's, and supposedly each year between had a slight variation of td05 to the other (just to make it more confusing). the 94 supposedly the laggiest the 96, the fastest spooling.

from 1997 through to 2000 inclusive: the wrx sported a td04 turbo. even smaller than the td05 but faster spooling units.

yes, my skyline feels quicker up top to my old wrx, but i think this is mainly due to the 6cylinders and larger block this is also not say modified wrx's have no top end!

lol

I think the porsch engines...though boxer units are a more refined breed then the subarus :) You pay for what you get I suppose.

When I ran a friend's MY00, he always pulled faster in 1st gear up to 50-60...then I'd slowly catchup. I wouldn't play with an MY03 though. SO wrxs...don't have much top end then..mmmm...rev it too much and it blows a head gasket? That true? For the MY9X models at least?

How modified is your car though ait? If yours is an fairly stock RB20.. then the superior boxer engine would be fair bit faster.. however the RB25DET is more torquey down low and gives them a much better run. This has been covered a million times on here though :)
