As many threads will already state - turbo timers are illegal to use in Australia. Just drive slow for the last coupla minutes of the journey and let it cool down. For reference:

ADR 25: Turbo timers are not to be fitted to vehicles manufactured on or after 1 January 1972 (ADR 25 Anti-

Theft Locks). ADR 25 requires that the normal function of the engine only occurs when the ignition lock is in the engine on position.

+1 JRM

mine has it as well, but guess what not hooked up.!!!!. why bother if you can't let you car idle with your butt in it for a min while you get your crap ready , and drive it slower/lower rpm for a few min before hand. easy solution ?

this is true for any car not just turbo's or if could vapour lock and not restart what is vapour lock you ask

my friends volvo non turbo fuel injected 244 used to do it at rush hour when we got stuck behind the train tracks.. sux ass

turbo cars had the bad rap when the oil would burn in the bearing races after being flogged and shut off without proper cooldown. a problem from the 80's first turbo cars. with lame oils , not as common these days with synthetic oils and less emissions crap hanging off engines.

I had the same system hooked up a few years ago, and from what I remember, the TT function is programmable at the time of installation for 30, 60 or 90 seconds.

I have mine on 90 seconds, and you can force it off when you've turned the car off but it's still running by double-pressing "2". I usually do this, and it's no effort. You can force the shutdown whenever you like.. doors open, doors locked, immobilised etc, as long as the ignition is off and it's running from the alarm system.

The whole thing was Insurance approved, and I received a certificate for insurance purposes too. I wouldn't think that there is an issue with a timer built into an alarm/immobiliser, as it can't be overridden like the piggy-back types.

While we're on the topic of this system, (which I rate VERY highly)... I had "unlock" once programmed to unlock both doors, and a second press to pop the boot via a solanoid installed next to the boot release latch (in the boot). This is SO DAMN HANDY. I swear the only key barrel i've used in the last 5 years is the ignition.

Double-pressing "1" will turn all your indicators on. Handy for walking to the car in the dark, or finding it in a parking-lot.

1 and lock will silent-lock

2 and unlock will silent-unlock

Thanx for the reply Steve.

I have booked for the guy to come back to install the auto window thingy so i am going to ask him bout the turbo timer.

I tried the 1 and lock, 2 and unlock and also the double pressing 1. Thanx man. now i can walk into my garage at night without switching on all the lights. Its bright.
