Im thinking that if the HR3 can record tv and radio it MIGHT record the av inputs aswell. Because I want to be able to have an extra camera inside the car which can record things, just in case my car gets broken into then I will have there pictures. Ha Ha.

careful what you record. you may see things you don't want to.. LOL

How good is the tv reception while driving? Is there a hidden aerial in the M35's somewhere? :D

The TV reception is mostly good whilst driving around urban areas. You will get bad spots and you can pick these as all the houses in the area will have large external antenna on the outside of their homes.

The M35 has 4 aerials built into the rear windows, 2 on each side.

Just a quick question why we are on the topic of the aerials.

Is there an adapter that can be used to plug the aerial inputs into the HRII or HRIII or is the only way to splice and dice with the f-connector?

If you had the time, an adapter could be made up if you visit Jaycar, but wont be as neat, and probably lose some signal strength, cutting them into 2 RG59 screw terminals is very efficient and tidy. I wouldnt worry about cutting them, those plugs have absolutely no purpose once the car left japan.

I might talk to Jaycar anyway, there is one up the road and I'm just interested in what solution they could come up with.

Can you tell me what the factory connections are called? i.e. are they a special japanese aerial connection?

Stephen sometimes there is no benefit in reinventing the wheel. Especially when it is going to cost more money.

The current method is very effective and cheap. Something I thought you would appreciate at the moment.

LOL I appreciate it, I just am a big fan of plug & play as apposed to cutting wiring etc. I know, man up! lol

so now i ordered a HR3, what else do i need to install it? these connector things u all talking about... where and how much would be apreciated..

You need a cable from Ducati02 that allows you to run from the hriii (3 rca) to the factory tuner (custom white plug), ducati02 or andy65b will be able to provide more information on that for you.

Hi guys,

If there's have an HR3 left ill grab one. PM me with payment details as I cant PM anyone yet.

And more info on supply of this cable too.

Cheers,

Justin

M35 owners should be aware that the rear window tv antenna wires are ONLY on models that were optioned with factory tv.

if youre considering installing a screen in your non-tv/gps equipped M35, youll need antennas also

same as HR2 but with usb input for playing video and audio files on usb stick. Recommended that M35 owners buy a USB extension cable allowing access to the UBS port, since tuner is usually tucked away out of reach.

Nice :D

Does the TV tuner i ordered come with USB plug in too? It would be killer to be able to play music videos from USB on the screen.

HR3 is TV and USB, HR2 is only TV, both have AV inputs. I have been reassured from Asuka that the USB input will output to NTSC but not the AV input(as was case with HR2), so reverse cameras still need to be NTSC. (for those who did not know, there is a reverse camera switching function)

    • A question for tuning awd, is it possible to disable the AWD? The stagea is an EA/T AWD, Toshi had said on a GTR, he was able to disable it and make it 2wd. Just wanted to double check if this was possible
    • Whoa, that's a name I've not see for a long time! Sorry to hear about the engine / turbo damage.  Fwiw with any engine problems it often really a case of just seeing what happens when it's apart, ymmv - I wouldn't rule out the possibility that the damage isn't even from the turbo failure, or possibly from a combination.  The airflow between cylinders isn't dead even, injectors can go off over time as well, with the turbos overboosting if you didn't have upgraded fuel system there could have possibly been a bit of leaning out - stock triggering is often a bit unreliable by this age too.  Basically its an old engine and a few things could have been going on, and you won't know how much work is needed until the engine is apart.
    • I'm just shocked there's a euro driver on our roads who is thinking of other road users and not attempting to blind everyone. I wonder if Prank uses his indicator too...
    • Its hard to tell really. The Q50 owner's forum talks about it a lot and has quite a few people directly affected, but no idea what % of cars sold actually had the block replaced. Also, there seem to be 2 distinct issues which both get diagnosed by Infiniti as requiring a block replacement (no wonder they are going broke) 1. "Porous block" where coolant mixes with oil through thin or poorly cast parts of the block 2. Head coolant gallery plugs not sealing. If I was noticing engine coolant loss I'd start with cooling system pressure test (as always) and then I'd pull the cam covers and reseal the coolant gallery plugs on both side before worrying about a potentially porous block.  If neither of those did the trick it would be put in a second hand engine out of japan; I haven't checked pricing but I'm sure there are plenty around by now as they've been in production 10+ years
    • To clarify what I posted above, I thought you both had a situation where it cancelled sooner one way than the other.....if it is reasonably even where it cancels in either direction that is probably normal (consider gentle movements like lane changes, you don't want it to need half a turn of lock to turn the indicators off)
