Yellow Sticker, Rwc, And $300 Fine. (not A Rant)

Ok so i got pulled over tonight. Wasnt doing anything stupid, had a mate with me carrying dinner.

Previously go done many occasions when i first bought the car and from 242rwkw it is pretty much stock now.

Ok so the guy (who shall not be named - yet everyone knows him) looks under my bonnet. Everything is legit, Airbox with FMIC. FMIC is engineered (last defect cost me $3k)

He asked me for my engineers cert, which i had on me.

Looks in my car, i dont have a boost controller/ecu/steering wheel/gauges etc

He makes a joke of my "aftermarket ipod".

Next he asks if my ride height was legal. I told him yes which (3 months ago i just got it checked by vicroads)

He goes to his car and gets a rod with a wheel at the end (what vicroads people use).

This rod passes my bodykit on front/side/rear. Yet the wheel hit a resonator which a put in 2 months ago.

He said it was too low then went back to his car, 10-15 mins and came out with a shiny yellow sticker for my car, a $300 fine (Driving modded vehicle)

Minor defect with a rwc cert.

I thought a yellow sticker was for 3 or more defects?

i have to rwc because my car is a bit low, does this mean if someone had a taillight globe out the officer is allowed to give them a fine/rwc cert?

Ive played by the books (legal mods) but because of the area i live in, i deal with this(getting pulled over) many times.

Your thoughts?

a canary is a canary. two types - minor and major. i dont know any specifics since the hoon laws but generally the fine is for major, what does it say in specifics? should have a marker on minor/major and also what he found with the car at time of issue.

;) extreme bad luck. if the resi is the lowest point just take it back to the exhaust shop and see what they can do. if everything else is aok then it should realistically only take 2 trips, one to the exhaust shop and the other to vicroads.

Merv. either way its pettett.. he would fine you if your car was dead stock. hed pick on something. unfortunatly its a bad area with him on duty for us, no matter how legal you keep it.

although if u wanted you are able to contest it whether it be a waste of time or not but considering by law the car must be measured on a level surface and if i remember by the pic i saw you were on a slope which was well capable of being able to make your car look lower.

Perhaps this image can help, I came across this on the VIC roads website while studying for my RWC licence. There is a VSI for modified cars and it states the correct way of measuring the minimum ride height. The 100mm minimum is only valid for 1m before and after the center line of any given axle. I have not used this to argue an infringement but I know those who have and had it removed.

I was in your exact position when I first got my car. Cop checked over it n saw it was dead stock but defected me for being about 2-3mm too low. No fine tho which I was happy about. But then a year later same thing but the cop (different one) listed my defect as a major and fined me $300. I guess some of them just want to make an example and are just doing their job, and others r just scumbags

the fine can be issued without even getting a defect its for driving an unroadworthy vehichle $292 i think it is. You require 3 defects for a major defect but you said you git minor that requires a rwc? never heard of that minor is usually fix and get car inspected at vic roads major is rwc

either way shit happens.

I got a "minor" for being to low, officer checked with this wheel thingy and said muffler is 40mm or so from the ground, plus a 292$ for driving an un-roadworthy vechicle.. Yellow sticker as well.

So all you got to do is go to Raise your car then go to vic roads... and your done if its a "Minor"

This is why I bought adjustable coilovers

Sorry to hear about your defect. If it makes you feel any better, which it won't, no one gets away clean from that twit.
