Hi Guys wonder if anyone can give me a bit of advice. I have a 2002 350gt-8. Transmission started going into limp mode and wasn't too bad at first. Took it to a registered Nissan dealer who scanned it and it came back with an electrical fault. They first replaced the hi-stop break light and when that didn't work they replaced the speed sensors. The transmission usually works fine if engine is warm. They now tell me its the transmission and as i'm in NZ it'd cost 3 times more than the cars worth to fix. Am I stuffed?

Cheers

Get comprehensive insurance on your car and take it into a tree :D

Nah, make sure that they have checked the fluid thoroughly and it isn't burnt or low or dirty, that could be the issue *hopefully*

IF your tranny has shat itself, then yes, it is quite pricey, an option maybe to install a 5AT.

Check the fluid carefully make sure that it is that. Make sure all your fluids are fine.

When my engine oil starts to give a bit, my car feels like shit.

I change it every 10k, but after about 8500ks, the car feels very weak and what not.

Make sure you eliminate every possibility before getting rid of the tranny as it is a verry dear move to make.

Hope my ramblings helped :)

Cheers,

Tony

I think that these transmissions take a very specialised transmission fluid, which is extremely expensive. so that might be your first step. where abouts in nz are you? could you take it to a transmission place i.e marshal transmissions they might have had experience with them? failing that you might have to look at/import a half cut or a crash damaged car :D . i cant imagine those gearboxes been very expensive (2nd hand) compared to a 25det 5sp?
