Hey Guys,

on my R33 S2 Gts-t, i have a problem with the fuel guage. When there is a quarter a tank or more the gauge is pretty accurate, but once it gets to below this it will sometimes randomly complete drop down to E, like even below E sometimes, then it will randomly climb back to a quarter, its extremely inaccurate at anything below a quarter a tank, it almost stops working.

Any advice?

Steve

hey mate sounds like the problem i had in my stagea, i started by replacing the sender in the tank that didnt work .then i replaced the instrument cluster with one the same and the fault was in the cluster .so try a different cluster first buddy

My first S2 did the same thing mate.... When I first got it the gauge didn't work at all... Was stuck on E... After a few full tanks of fuel it fixed itself. It probably did it randomly for the first three months of owning it and then it never did it again.....

i think it might be your fuel float is sticking in your fuel tank mate they tend to do that over time, accumulation of dirt in the fuel seizes the float from moving up and down to measure the amount of fuel in your tank or might be a fault in the actual gauge  just my thought!

once the tank gets below 1/4 it will also move around a lot depending on what sort of slope you are driving on. if you are on flat ground they will be accurate, but if you start driving up and down hills or even on flat ground where the road has a bit of camber to it then the gauge will start to read a bit out. if it is fluctuation while on relatively flat ground then it will be an issue with the sender or the gauge.
