Hey guys,

(Reffers to R33 Skyline)

I found an opening on the bottom, rear end, drivers side of my car (boot area). Theres a box, with square holes, surrounding it and the opening is about a feet squared. Only thing seperating the outside from the inside(of the car) is a piece of flappy plastic. Does anyone know what that is?

If you look under your rear bar (right side, behind the tires) you'll see it.

Was thinking of sealing it off to hopefully get rid of some road noise/outside noise if it's a "useless" part.

Advisable?

Fairly sure it's there to allow your boot to "breathe" as it were; to stop the buildup of condensation etc.

Say you get a small amount of water in your boot; that small amount of air will help it evaporate instead of just sitting there for however long.

Up to you in the end though; if you need the space for something else, do what you want

I thought the purpose of that flap/vent (which is in every car i've ever seen) is so that air can escape when you close your boot... so the boot doesn't just bounce off the air trying to escape.

That actually makes alot more sense. I forgot some people seal of their boot from the "inside" part of the car to prevent whatever boot noises from coming through.
