Hey all, have been on here a while and have never done a vehicle intro thread or build thread so i thought it was well overdue.

I bought my very first car at the tender age of 17 in the form of a standard R33 GTST. Over the next 3 and a half years it turned into a matt black RB26 thrasher lol. Once that blew up i parted that out and took the plunge.

Bought in December 2008, i was the proud owner of a standard R33 GTR in KR4 Silver with an August 1997 build.

The first to go were the rashed up Work Rezax Wheels in favour of some Bronze Work Emotion CR Kai wheels measuring 18x9.5 in a +18 off set

other than that the car appears standard apart from the N1 bonnet lip.

The plan was to leave it pretty mild.... however within a month there was an RS*R 3.5in catback exhaust and Trust MX Front pipes and an Apexi Power FC ECU.

A few other little things made it onto the car in the form of a Just Jap washerbottle/oil catch can and also a JJR 100mm thick GTR cooler and 19 row oil cooler with re locator.

It was a little more lively now but it lasted all of 6 months and the decision was made to get on the phone with ETM (Extreme Turbo Manifolds) and order a full GT3582R turbo kit with Tial 44mm gate, turbo with exhaust housing mod, oil and water line kit aswell as the awesome manifold.

My housemate being very proficient with a TIG knocked up all my pipe work out of Ally and the new dump and front out of stainless aswell as welding on the adaptor for the new turbosmart raceport bov.

the car was left in that state until the standard clutch gave up so the Exedy Compe D twin plate went in.

With the base boost set at 0.7bar (wastegate pressure) the car was around the 230awkw marker and was taken out for a bit of a spirited drive where the gearbox decided to let go of 3rd gear.

It has been since this happened that i have been motivated to do a few things with the car.

New Gearbox has been ordered and awaiting arrival.

I had great pleasure in getting in contact with Craved Coatings (Chris) in order to get the engine covers powder coated in Black Cherry which turned out incredibly awesome lol

The exhaust housing, wastegate body, exhaust manifold are all being HPC coated by Chris aswell.

I have also put in the new Siemens 750cc injectors and Bosch 044 external fuel pump with 3 litre surge tank.

Have since sold the Power FC in order to upgrade to the VIPEC ecu and have since changed accross to the single 4 inch intake to free up a little space.

There are also a few carbon fiber goodies in the pipeline to. Enjoy and i will keep you posted with developments

Pics to come shortly

Yea he did a great job on the covers and the HPC coating looks the business to.

I got sick of dealing AFM's i just am not a fan at all. Vipec makes sense to me and is pretty well priced for everything it has so i am sold on that.

Got to last night and started wiring up the external 044 and probably wasn't the best idea to be doing this while intoxicated but worked out ok lol Housemate gets back from work on Tuesday so surge tank will be taking shape this week aswell :P

Hopefully can off load these CR Kais aswell

Cheers dude, i was a little hesitant with the high polish but once i saw them in the flesh and saw them on the car i was completely satisfied with the purchase. Absolutely awesome wheel and tyre package and can't thank the Import Monster guys enough for all their help

Thats is correct lol, went out with the stocko clutch to hopefully get one good run out of it.... Needless to say that it wasn't going to play the game.

It was leaving the line on gate then dropping off then back on and slipping especially in 2nd and 3rd that resulted in a flat 13 at i think around 98mph lol good 60ft times of around 1.78 was the best from memory.

I had every intention of getting it out before doing this round of mods but the broken gearbox decided that fate. I am aiming for an 11.7 or better when tuned which provided everything goes right it should do but we can only wait and see.

I honestly can not say enough about this kit. The turbo is great with its power delivery and how responsive it really is, definitely put it down to the amazing manifold from ETM.

    • I'm running a Haltech Platinum Pro with the stock map for the RB20DET + tweaks for my build. When I started it this morning, the IAT was at 32F/0C (Outside temp was ~42F) and the AFRs went off the scale for my AEM gauge. I let it run for ~30 seconds then turned it off. I then did a smoke test, by hooking into a vacuum line directly behind the throttle body, and confirmed there was no leaks ( i let the smoke tester run for ~5 minutes / confirmed it was generating smoke before hand ). I then started the car again, after fixing a power steering leak.... and it seemed to be happy for ~30 seconds (was at ~11/12), but then seemingly shot back up to ~18 again. I then let the car run for a few minutes, thinking this was just cold start related, but the AFRs never came back down. I didn't let the car fully warm up, so maybe this makes sense, but I'm not sure what to do? The AFRs, when I last ran it, were normal, but because of personal reasons I haven't been able to break in the car. It was rebuilt last year.
