4-6 week wait for the cams :blink: but all good lol

Big shout out to Shane from PSI parts for teh hook up of some tasty carbon bits.

So far have the Carbon exhaust surround and the carbon diffuser with vortex generators

Next up will be carbon boot lip spoiler and carbon front lip.

Ordered 280deg Tomei ProCams with Tomei Adjustable Cam Gears for starters :D

I like the sound of this (The cam selection and the part about stockpiling parts).

So you just concentrating on drag times now? Given that those cams are excessively huge and together with a bigger turbo setup will make it a pig on the streets of Townsville.

Can't really see it being used for anything else we have up here (Mt Stuart, go kart track, V8 track, The Strand lol).

Adam and Matty told me you mentioned in a thread some where about putting a T51R on and those massive cams so I just assumed drag racing is what you are aiming for? Considering we don't really have dyno comps up here other than Ingham, and I didn't think that was what you were aiming for, so hence the drag racing comment.

I thought it was a fair question?

Don't really care much for drag. Turbine choice is will be bigger than what is on there, however I am primarily looking at T51R Kai or TO4Z as a starting point. I will not go bigger than the Kai for obvious reasons as it will remain a street car.

There will also be no more 5 speed box behind the engine anymore either.

It will be once done an incredibly quick street car that at the end of the day I will be happy with and it's what I want. I am not interested in dyno comps or drags but it will eventually get taken down to most likely Brisbane to turn laps around QR.

I only need to shake my head at the people that thought this turbo was to laggy... If I wanted boost off idle I would have bought an naturally aspirated car, can't get more responsive than that lol

Why go to a larger turbo when you can't even get the current setup to work?

Every ones interpretation of lag is different. A GT35 on a RB26 has lag, end of story. Any car in a straight line once on boost at high RPM feels fine, it is in and out of corners while changing gears constantly where you notice the difference. Pretty sure I have proved that point many times up Mt Stuart sitting on the asses of much more powerful cars; including yours.

A T04Z or T51R Kai with such big cams will be lagy as hell and gutless for a street RB26, especially in Townsville where we don't have massive highways every where.

The 5 speed box is plenty strong, just gotta drive it properly and not do limiter launches every time you go for a drive ;)

Your car and your mods. Just seems like you are building a dyno queen when you used to always make fun of such cars.

A dyno/drag queen to me is a 26 with GT47 on it. That's stupid and useless in my view. The 5 speed is ok except the ratios aren't quite to my liking aswell as the strength factor.

Also I have not broken a gearbox... I wasn't driving when 3rd went bye bye. My reasoning behind an aftermarket 6 speed is one for better ratios and also because I don't want to mess around with it again.

This box is ok but like most standard things will have a used by date with anything over 400awkw.

Also as a side note the current set up is quicker onto boost than the standard junk. Don't knock something until you have tried it phil.

I don't mind copping people's negative comments, there is always going to be that. End of the day is it's what I want my GTR to be if it pleases other people or not, it will be what I vision down to each detail of the build.

So a 800+HP turbo on a 2.6L "Street car" aint a dyno/drag queen? Please.

You were trying to sell the car for ages because you told every one it wasn't that fun to drive on the streets. You really think being blown away at the lights by our Mazda 3 is going to make you happy?

So like I said, a pig to drive on our streets up here. Hell even my car feels like I have to rev it quite a bit to put around town compared to new cars that I have driven. It's the fact of having an old small displacement engine in a heavy car. I remember Tristan going on about how terrible Gojira was to drive around town. And also, just becuase the head will be rated to such a high RPM means dick. Doesn't mean the bottom end will handle it unless it is built absolutely perfectly.

No shit. The stock turbos on a RB26 are pretty damn laggy nowadays (drive a modern day turbo car and compare the difference). I have no doubt that the new setup feels better (I say "feel" because without comparing proper dyno sheets the placebo effect is to strong).

I actually thought the turbo choice you had on there wasn't that bad (personally I would go with HKS GT-SS's for up here for good fun up Stuart and for the track).

I hardly call it negative comments. I've known you longer than most people and can tell when you are just speaking shit or actually know what you are on about. I'm glad you are building the car how you want it, because most of the time you only buy parts because some one else tells you to do something or you think it will impress a bunch of young kids.

Either way, good luck with what you choose to do, I'm just trying to educate you a bit more because it feels like you are just opening up a HPI magazine and picking a bunch of pretty parts that are going to cost you $50,000. Pretty ironic considering when you were trying to sell the GTR you kept having a go at me telling me how there was more important things in life than a car ;)

That's ok phil. I always expected these comments. To be completely honest I was getting a little sick of it however I came to my senses thank god and kept it.

I don't take HPI as gospel nor is this motor going to cost me 50k :)

By doing spittle re search it didn't mean reading HPI but thank you for your input Phil.

I do take it on board and it still doesn't sway my decision as to my parts choice. I have no doubt that there are people out there that share the same opinion as you however I am more willing to listen to people that have had the various set ups/combo's and tested or tuned these.

Not to worry phil its not your so you don't need to live with driving it, I do and I really can't wait :)

I still haven't decided which route, it will be between a to4z being the starting point and t51r Kai being the absolute biggest.

I do know for sure that the 3582 will be taken off.

I am very interested to see end result and also get the motor out and started in the new year.

I just want to oliminate any forms of rb and also GTR driveline weaknesses. If done right there is no reason why this won't be a reliable 400-470kw car.

I do intend to take this around the local tracks etc however more for fun than anything else.

I don't mind how long it takes to get done aslong as it's done to the specs that I want it done to.

There are areas of the car that I haven't discussed that will definitely be in need of attention with the above mentioned power

Firstly may I say nice car and great effort on doing the mods yourself, saves you a wad of cash and gives you and your mate something to look forward to when it's done. Must be a good feeling knowing that when it's done you did a lot of the hands-on work yourself, something to be proud of.

Although I have to agree 100% with PM-33's comments. This car when finished will be a pig to drive on the street and you'd be lucky to see any decent boost south of 5500rpm let alone the 4000rpm you're quoting, especially if your not stroking it to atleast 2.8 litres. Don't mean to step on any toes but thought you could take the advice and have a good think about it.

And personally I would not take this car anywhere near a race track (circuit) when finished. It will struggle out of the corners and when it hits full boost will most likely spear you off the black stuff. I must say kudos to you if you can get it to work but it's a big ask. Post some vids when you do go as I would like to see how much of a handful it would be....

Again not trying to stir you up and best of luck with the rest of the build...

That's all good, as I said I know I want to go bigger turbo wise but exactly what I end up with depends on what's available at the time I want to buy. The engine will be dealt with as priority and then the supporting factors for that engine will start coming into play.

I am not trying to build a world beater just something I want to build. I am still unsure as to where I will get the work carried out but it will most likely end up getting it done in Brisbane. There's two mobs there have caught my interests in the form of Godzilla motorsports and GT Auto garage.

However I am only as far as building up the parts basket at the moment so will cross that bridge when I get to it.

this thing drives real nice with the current setup but theres nothing wrong with wanting more.:D

you know i love driving this thing the way it is.

i still think though, you should get this setup working 100% and sort out the suspension.

but at the end of the day its your car and want you want to do with it.

let me know when you are selling the current setup, i may know someone that wants it :whistling:
