Stagea Digital Climate Control Problems.

Hey guys,

Have recently just purchased a 97 rsfour v stagea, great car only fault is the aircon troubbles.

Currently its got a digital climate control and ive got the following problem:

- When i switch to fresh air mode, doesn't change, stuck on recirc mode.

- When i switch to demister mode (front windscreen) nothing happens.

Cutting a long story short its ending up in a foggy winscreen, not sure if its a common problem with stag air cons?

Not sure if i should replace the climate control unit, or if there is some kind of fault finding mode i can run on the factory climate control unit?

Anyways any help will be good!

If it's anything like the R33's, there is an actuator that moves a flap between recirc and fresh... these often die or go noisy and there is a thread on how to get to and replace the actuator.

I changed mine because it was clicking on a broken tooth inside the actuator, and it's been perfect since.

I would assume that there is a seperate actuator for foot/face/demist, but i'm not sure in a Stag. I wouldn't think the climate control unit is broken, unless it's not lighting up the position the air should be blowing in?

I had a similar problem in my stagea where it would not move from fresh air mode, and every time I started the car the ac would go into some sort of limp mode with just the fan on.

turned out to be the fresh button was sticking and not freely returning, which in turn was confusing the control unit in some way. control unit replaced (careful there are different control units, check the part number printed on it)
