Microtech Tuning

Ok, think its about time i had the tune on my setup refreshed. currently running a Microtech LT12S with an established tune on it. to run a standard S1 RB25DET, T04E int gate turbo @ 16PSI, front facing plenum, FMIC, walbro pump etc etc...fairly modest setup. had it in the dyno recently, pulled 217kw which is pretty respectable. now im not necessarily after more power as such because im quite happy with the go it has. but more after a cleaner A/F mix and a few other little bits and pieces to make it a little less fuel hungry and a bit smoother at WOT.

main issue im having atm is at WOT it seems to be fueling up so much that its missing, which gets quite annoying after a while. yes im running aftermarket coils (splitfires) with the correctly gapped plugs (0.7?)that are only a few thousand k's old. only use BP Ultimate (98RON). is apparent when i service it that it is fueling up a lot. apart from that thats it, fuel consumption is not great but its not bad either (easily managing 500ks of highway driving with a bit of overtaking :O ). cold starts are fine, idle is a bit high (1450RPM) which id like to get put down to 950/1050RPM (which im sure is just a matter of fishing through the hand controller/software but havnt been game to try it without someone who knows what theyre doing)

im located in warrnambool which is about 3 hours drive west of melbourne, but willing to make a weekend trip up for it, wherever it may be. just after advice on any places that are reputable for tuning these particular ECUs.

advice much appreciated :)

given where you live and the annoyance you have you might find it easier to rip it out, sell it and buy a more friendlier unit you can do the most of work yourself

is it hard wired in or plug and pray?

book it in to a reputable shop, the microtech is a simple tool but it can work just fine in a setup like yours. many guys dont take advantage of some of the tuning capabilities as they are a little unorthodox.

Hi,

I would recommend Dalton Automotive, he is located in Geelong and is a Microtech specialist, I have a Microtech in my r33 and the tune on it is great. Ask for Chris, he is the owner and will be more then happy to talk to you. If you want more info you can check out his web site too. http://www.daltonautomotive.com/
