MSTRshenanigans
HP and Toshiba are mid range market, reliable though. Asus I hold a bit higher than them lol Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/329955-help-with-buying-a-new-laptop/#findComment-5360653 Share on other sites

R31Nismoid
You really want to spend 4k on a laptop? Either way stay away from HP, their laptops are far to bloated with rubbish. Asus & Toshiba would be my choice... What are the min system requirements for your design programs? Is weight an issue? Battery life requirements? Screen size requirements? With these we can then get an idea of what you need as IMO spending 4k on a laptop is madness. bozodos
again, dropping 4k dude, can't beat an Alienware, but it will be heavy and power hungry lol. Asus dosen't have the support that Dell does, and i'm personally a bit iffy bout their hardware Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/329955-help-with-buying-a-new-laptop/#findComment-5361233 Share on other sites
krzysztof
i worked years ago repairing laptops and later on for HP. Sure HP laptops are loaded with crap out of the box, but most of it use useless sh*t you'll never use, i find removing anything you dont need significantly increases performance, and as for quality of the product they're well up there. but then again when purchasing laptops for family/friends i've always reccomend toshiba too. my advice stick with toshiba or hp. and yeh 4k is overkill. 2500 at most should be all you'd need. gwin
Sorry to say, buying any laptop to run CAD is a big no no... you're throwing money down the drain with 4k you can buy 2 powerful pcs and have one at each location.... But I guess you're paying for the show off factor? http://www.sony.com.au/product/vpcz128gg Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/329955-help-with-buying-a-new-laptop/#findComment-5361522 Share on other sites
.:: GimpS-R34 ::.
^^^ this is my suggestion also.. unless theere are upgraded specs.. you're willing to pay 3.5k for an underrated laptop that seems to generate its price based on that badge they have there.. so the laptop is 2k and the badge is 1.5k... ithe sony one that gwin posted is alot better specs.. but i would still look at building 2 PCs.. one at work with high end processor 6GB RAM.. and high end gfx card to handle your CAD.. home PC sounds like you just want an off the shelf PC to simply browse internet, torrent, etc.. doesnt need to be anything high end.. One of the better thought out and finished off laptops i've come across. And before you say "but i need windows" you can run windows on it.
