Anquetil
Been wanting to relocate the CC to the back of the engine bay on the passenger side to make way for a CAI box. However, after taking a closer look I noticed a line (D) coming off the base of the CC which seperated into 2 lines, these 2 lines where like rails which went to the rear of the engine bay and followed the dump pipe out of sight. Anyone know what these are? Do they just vent to atmo down there? I dont want to remove the canister altogether. 51jay
Would't you just cut them off just befor they go under the firewall and use fuel hose and joiners to bring them back to your new location, I don't think any just vent to air Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/33018-r33-relocating-the-carbon-canister/#findComment-667675 Share on other sites
Anquetil
Did this yesterday, as you said I just cut the lines off near the firewall. The line I was talking about actually vented to atmo, half way down the exhaust. |PRESA|
Whats wrong with actually disabelling the canister all together? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/33018-r33-relocating-the-carbon-canister/#findComment-1009024 Share on other sites
NewKleer
its required for emissions, so removing is illegal (big fines accompany it) legalities aside, removing it means you are releasing fuel vapour into atmosphere, rather than being taken into the intake and burnt like normal air/fuel would. youll get slightly worse fuel consumption, but some people report better performance. in the end, if u can keep it without too many hassles, then do so. i also relocated mine to back corner of engine bay, passenger side. predator
i always assumed they went back under the car there so they vented back into the fuel tank? NewKleer
theres only one line from the tank, thats the vapour line shown as C above. the D line only needs to vent to atmosphere. once your greater than about 2k rpm, the vaccum line is activated which opens the valve, drawing the stored vapours in the charcoal thru the intake. i *think* the vent line (D) draws air from outside the car for which the vapour travels in to intake. either that or the D line vents clean air once vapour is removed out to atmosphere, or possibly both of the above.
