Stereo's On Japanese Imports

my r33 gtr has the factory cd player with the factory cd stacker attached so i dont want to remove it

can i calobrate the stereo to our stations?

is there a thread on this topic?

Probably threads on it - all you need is a box sitting in-line with your antenna that will change the frequencies. It should have been done at compliance time though. Be aware it's still going to show the wrong frequency on the display.

Should be easy enough to buy one of these locally. You may find it easier just to put a decent head unit in - I know I did.

^ Exactly right. On my other R33 which still has the factory CD/tape head unit, I installed a FM converter box which shifts the FM frequency that allows the stock unit to receive Australian broadcasts but as jrm mentioned the number on the display of the unit will not match up. You can pick up one of these boxes up from Jaycar (link) which I did but I needed a converter to allow the Japanese plug to connect to the box but you can find them easily at any store that sells car audio.

If you want you can also order a box with all the connectors built in so it’s simply plug and play from here. I can’t remember the exact model you need, but you can email them and they will tell you. My converter box required a 12V power feed to it but this may not be the same for other similar units.

easier to pull it and start again. that said if you want a stock looking radio - find a wrecked patrol and nab that one. plugs straight in

what brand is the stock head unit? i have a cazzorararara.... or something lol and it has the cd stacker in the boot, is that factory? i always thought someone put it in

pioneer. find something local pioneer and you can use the accessories. (to a point.)

Just buy a Nissan double DIN adaptor from Autobarn for roughly $15 if i recall correctlt. then plug that to the back of your headunit.

EDIT: might not work with factory headunit...
