Ok this might seem really stupid to many people but im at a loss. i might not also be able to explain myself to well but ill give it a shot. Well I have seen a few images of r34 gtt's where the hood isn't as long and doesn't sit down as far.

For example

post-73007-1280052734_thumb.jpg post-73007-1280052745_thumb.jpg

as pictured both the hood and the front bumper sit higher, the hood isn't as long as a stock r34 gtt. The bumper seems to sit up a bit higher and sits inline with the top of the headlights.

where as my stock skyline which i plan to modify bumper sits about the mid point of the headlights like this

post-73007-1280052753_thumb.jpg

as pictured i was wondering how exactly to rise the bumper and make the hood shorter. i obviously know that i need a new bumper and i am having an entire body kit custom made but how can it be configured so that the hood isn't as long, is it don't by cutting off some of the hood or simply installing a bigger bumper and having it sit on that? it seems to have an extra lip or somthing and i need to know how to have it removed.

sorry if this is a bit confusing but its just something i need to work out to modify my car and i need to get started straight away.

yeah man thats the point of why i want to do it, i like the look much better, but they are definitely gtts, the first one is a veilside kit and the second is a gtr conversion kit but that still doesnt explain how the hood sits flush with the top of the headlights and the front bar is higher

possible reasons Why yours is different

1 - both example pictures are GTR's and yours is GTT

2 - both examples are aftermarket carbon items and yours is stock

3 - both examples have aftermarket front bars where as yours is stock

In my opinion, don't try to modify your bumper and bonnet too look like that... buy aftermarket gear to get the same result

Im fairly certain GTT bonnets & GTR bonnets are 2 different size, weights and style bonnets

but correct me if i'm wrong.

cheers

i am 100% sure they are both gtts because they are advertised as that by private sellers:) and i know that mine is stock and that is what i want to change, my concern is how exactly to change it to raise the bumper and cut back the hood because i could go buy a new gtt bumper but it will still sit lower than these and im pretty sure a gtr bumper wont fit to it

Most stuff of the same model is interchangeable

cant say for sure about 34s but for 33s you can interchange guards, bonnets, lights etc etc without any mods

The guards on that Green 34 look to pumped to be a GTT

unless his done a really good full conversion

no your right to put a GTR bonnet on GTT you will need the GTR hinges, latch , and probably a GTR style front bar so you dont have a gap in between the GTR bonnet and stock GTT bar

but the reason for them looking different is coz they are 2 different types of cars. like you said one has a GTR conversion

and the other a complete kit you wont be able to get your car to look the same without changing your bonnet and bar

im not having someone fabricate the bonnet im just getting a custom front bumper!

could someone show me a site or somewhere i could buy a ztune bonnet that would fit the way i want

or just a standard gtr bonnet that will fit the way i want

Then call the local wreckers and see if they have any GTR bonnet latches and hinges floating around. If you do end up getting a front bar that was intended to go with a GTT, you can get something like this to fill in the gap the GTR bonnet makes:

bro seriously just do the gtr conversion at the fron, then go an aftermarket front bumper for a gtr, get gtr z tune guards and bonnet, if u go a carbon bonnet u dont need to change the latch if u go pins just remove the latch assembly (this is what i have done) but u might get pulled over a lil bit lol.

    • Yeah kids certainly add a whole another dimension to your life.  Life ceases to be about you and more about them for a while!  And I wouldn't have it any other way.  I love watching them play sport and make new friends along the way. Wow, sounds like your mate is a good guy to know!!!  He's got some serious toys in the toy box!  Yes it would be lovely to be able to do stuff to your car without getting all tied up in boring shit like how to pay for it!!  I would describe my spending style as "aggressively spontaneous and logical but regrettable purchasing"....  That will hopefully make no sense at all which would be appropriate given that is how I buy stuff.  I'll decide at the drop of a hat that I'm buying something expensive, research the living shit out of it for 2 days straight then go out and buy it.  Then I'll have instant buyers remorse for 2 days which generally passes by the time it turns up on the front step!  If I'm feeling ballsy sometimes I'll tell my wife.  Other times it just makes its way silently passed the house and out the back to the shed, never to be spoken of again...
    • My extinguisher mounted like this unscrewed a little (Maybe from the chair sliding forward) and dumped a bit of white on my mats. I'll need to get a more narrow one for future.
    • I totally couldn't do the whole kids taking up my life thing! 😮 I find it bad enough doing 45 hours in 4 days, and then fitting normal adulting life into the other 3 with no kids! As for my mates race cars, they're AMG C63 setup for production racing. The original is what has just been stripped and a brand new shell built. The original is then going away to have some panels straightened, then it will be put back together again. Then there's a third that will shortly head off to have a roll cage put in, then build it up too. And potentially a fourth to be built too... Oh, and he has two Renault Clio D class production cars, ha ha. And when he's not racing them in the Australians and QLD production championships, he's been racing one of Chaz Mostert's Lamborghini's in GT4. They just won GT4 at the 12 hour in the Lambo. We're pushing to finish the new AMG as it has its first round (and potentially its first shakedown/outing) in under w weeks for Round one of QPC, and that round is really the shakedown to make sure it's all good for the Bathurst 6 hour, which I'll be at too. Ha ha ha Working on my project is different to his, I slowly tinker and work ways to make things happen on a shoe string budget. Hes in a good position that he has a massive workshop full of parts and tools, ha ha. He also looks after me. When his air compressor died, he just needed it working, so bought himself a new one and gave the old to me. Sand blaster unit too, and a 20t pressing. And pretty much all the shelving in my shed too as he upgraded all of his (the stuff he gave me is the expensive black Bunnings heavy duty stuff)!   I enjoy working on his stuff. No decision paralysis, and anything that's needed parts wise is just there. Plus, then I get to be hands on at the track in real racing, not just club day stuff.
    • I know which one I'd prefer to have in my garage, and which one I'd actually drive as intended
    • Yeah mate, no probs. Just swap the email addresses?
