hey guys,

ive been meaning to install a kill switch in my car for ages. im not going to go into where to put the switches, because thats a bit silly. what i want to know is what to immobilize.

as most thieves are familiar with kill switches and are able to bypass them, i want to know what are the most difficult devices on our cars to bypass. im pretty good at wiring and can get to most things without leaving a trace of where ive cut and wired in a switch.

easy things to bypass are fuel pump and ECU, i want to get into things like map sensor, AFM, coil packs etc etc. things that would need more time to try figure out and as you can imagine, the more time it takes to get something started, the higher chance of them giving up!

i know there is another type of switch where you use yourself as the ground while starting the car, you touch the switch and it then allows you to start the car. what part of the ignition only needs ground while starting it?

try not to give too much away when giving your suggestions as you never know who is reading.

cheers,

joe

this has been discussed a few times on here. huge arrays of ways to stop a car.

as Chris said, but another version is your cig lighter is your passkey..lol no cig lighter with the right curcuit, no car start or radio kill switch for the mechanics who like to blast your subs while working on your car. then hand you keys back and say your speakers were dead when you arrived..

kill switches suck. i vote make it so they can brake in and drive the car but then make it so the doors lock behind them and a bypass valve directs all the exhaust gas in to the cabin or use a gas bottle with some type of toxic gas. this would be very easy to set up with some of the mobile phone activated alarms. just wire up a relay to the door locks and another to the gas bottle. hmmm this is a pretty good idea, it started as a joke but maybe just maybe something like this would work. :)

It's sad we live in this society... look at Japan, most if not all their cars don't even have immobilisers..

One child policy for unemployed!

if they want another kid, $10k fee to the government

unemployed bogans/derros will raise more unemployed bogans and derros... baby bonus is stupid, true we're an aging nation, but bringing up a bunch of retards won't fix shet, when they're unemployed and increasing crime.

for example, those retards in campbelltown protested because police chased a retard in a stolen commodore which he then crashed and killed himself...

don't laugh but they do make something similar to this commercially, it fills the cabin with smoke so dense you cant see shite. won't stain and doesn't smell.

and can be reused .

smoke car alarm

there are other nasty party tricks you can play but I'm sure in this country your ass will go to jail, cause crims have more rights then you do trying to protect your property.

need a "make my day" law here.. like usa...lol

guys, try to do locations etc using PM.

If you don't already know this, when using google quite often this site pops up with all sorts of keywords from posts like this one.

haha and using a flat bed has it's negatives.

1. it puts your car like 2 meters in the air, its like a billboard "hey look at me"

2. in conjuction with point number one, if you spot your car on the flat bed, they can't exactly out run you if your in a mates car etc

3. they can't pick your car up if its in between 2 other cars.???

4. Unless they use fake plates witnesses can report the registration to the cops

5. Not the most discrete thing in the world, yes i agree some people will think your getting towed for a legitimate reason sometimes but then again some people might take notice and do something about it, especially you if you catch them in time.

i love it. and nobody die's... then again :P would rather have the thief dead or really f**ked up although if they got locked in the car with that smoke for 3hr's im sure the would not try it again :whistling:

couldn't u use a relay with a after market head unit as the kill switch. so when the face is not plugged in the HU is of and with the relay (s) kills ECU, fuel pump, coils the list goes on. if this is too good of a idea admis delete this post  jks

kids/bogans/junkies/derros can't afford a flat bed

then they get the idea well if i cant have it he cant and will either leave it on bricks, smash windows to get stereo, key it or worst of all, set it alight. but then again atleast your car will still be where you left it just a little damaged and undriveable yourself :/, kill switches, immobiliser or anything like that, as every one keeps saying if they want your car they will get it, if they cant get it the will wreck it.

    • Yes...but look at the numbers. There is a tiny tiny fraction of the number of Joules available, compared to what is used/needed. Just because things are "possible" doesn't make them meaningful.

    • Somehow Vertimass/Oak Ridge National Labs has figured out a catalyst that can convert ethanol into C9-C10 hydrocarbons in basically a single step without ending up with a bunch of ethylene or similar waste products: https://patents.google.com/patent/WO2023224867A1/en I still don't think anything like this will keep us from needing to transition to EVs regardless along with all kinds of other electrification, but things like this will go a long way towards alleviating the problem of how to electrify things like planes. Renewable diesel is seemingly an easier problem as well, Chevron is already running refineries for the stuff and the primary feedstock is tallow and other waste fats from agriculture.
    • Ok so I have sorted everything with my uniclutch and  i can offer up a bit of feedback and some things that might help others.    I found problems with factory damper line. Weird shit and had trouble with peddle adjustment    I used this https://au.gktech.com/products/r33-gts-t-skyline-braided-clutch-line?_pos=2&_sid=22b01b9b9&_ss=r Also when adjusting peddle leave a bit of play. You can get into a over stroke condition easy.. Make sure you can push the slave forward after adjusting to confirm fluid can return to master then you will need to pump it up heaps…..not sure why but that’s how it is.    last thing the splined adapter is machined perfectly. If your input shaft is old like mine was I would put a bit of valve grinding paste on it and stroke it like a 15 year old. Just to give it a tad more clearance and to better match it to the spline.    reason is on a near flat shift I have had situation where the peddle returns a millisecond after you lift from the clutch. No slip or anything but I reckon this is due to tolerance on the spline being way tighter than stock clutch and binding for a sec. I think this will go away but also my spline was old. Box is old so I guess I should have checked better. It’s a super neat fit.    it feels light as and holds awesome without any noise
