What's a good first car?

im looking for a good first car that is cheapish, reliable, rear wheel drive and is a good drift car. if anyone knows of some good ones i would like to know. thx

import an mx5 with some work done, handle awsome not so fast that you will kill yourself, the ladies love soft tops and they are cheap to run and maintain.

what about a AE86 sprinter trueno or a really old toyota rear wheel drive celica? some of my freinds say that they would be decient first cars.

Anything but a GT-R. Way too powerful for a first car; heck, even experienced drivers can get into trouble with a GT-R.

AE86's seem to be pretty popular; small, light and RWD. Silvia's or 180SX's would be the next step up.

if its ure first car, the sensible thing would be to buy a low maintenance car or one that is a few years old compared to one that is more than 10 years old..

get a feel for driving before going for power

i have my p plates and i can drive, in my parents car. its more of "my" first car. one that i can learn how to drift in.

1976 KE30 Corolla with a 4AG twin cam in it.... my brother has one and i've had more fun in that thing than in my Skyline. Theres thousands of cheap parts available, the conversion is a piece of piss and with a bit of suspension work they get sideways as well make a good amatuer track car. And if its more power you want, theres plenty of other great toyota motors you can bolt in with minimal fuss in most cases.

If i was 17 again and knew what I know now about engine conversions etc, id do it myself.

Could easily build one for about 3 grand after restoring the body, buying front cut, suspension etc.

Plus it'd probably have a similar power to weight ratio of an SR20 Q's silvia

every P plater would like to drift, which will get them into trouble. U just can't learn how to run before u know how to walk.
