I am having some trouble with the coolant temp sensor. Does anyone know how to test the sensor? am i measuring voltage or ohms? also i might need to rewire the sensor if i do what are the two pins that it goes to the ecu looking at a ecu wiring diagram only shows one pin for the sensor does the other get grounded, so pin 28 the positive and pin 30 ground?

thanks,

Andrew

To test the resistance of the sensor set your multi meter to ohms and connect it to the pins. To check voltage set your multimeter to volts and probe the connector. To check your gauge is working correctly you can earth the connector and check if the gauge rises. If it does you know you have a problem with the sensor not the gauge/wiring. Hope this helps.

thanks blind_elk thats exactly what i needed to know will do a test tomorrow after work,

and big unit thanks for your help but its not the sensor for the dash that im after i was talking about the one next to it for the ecu
