Yeah as others have said for whatever reason there seemed to be a fair few offs on Sun....maybe now the wrx club has been there a few times people confidence was high and they were pushing a little too hard. The wrx that had the big off left the track under its own power but was stranded by the side of the hwy on the way back to melb. Funny thing was there was no coolant leak after the incident but it must have blocked/pinched a hose as it was a little too hot on the side of the road :D

Waiting on the results but I had a ball....track had been heavily rained on the night before and there was a fair bit of crap on the track as a result. However after the first session + sun it appeared to grip up. I was wrapped to end the day 2nd fastest overall with a 56.3 and a time of 63.X for the figure 8.

Anyone get a copy of the results?

Great effort Anth, well done again mate :D

It was a great day and the weather held out for us. I had an absolute blast, the car was consistent all day and in one piece at the end of it and that's all I can ask for! The figure of 8 was especially fun, so I hope we can do a full day of it soon. Coming flat out through the blind crests was interesting to say the least. Thank God for Brembo's!

Will get some vids up shortly if they came out alright.

yeah that turn 3 is a weird one, never feels quite right through there... i nearly had a big off there in the wet earlier this year.

was a day of mixed emotions for me, had some trouble early with a leaky hose on my oil cooler, but managed to sort that between runs

was happy to get a new pb of 61.7, but still frustrated that my newly tightened lsd still does one leggers around most corners at hh.

i think the ute just unloads the inside rears too much... might try a locker next time i tackle hh. could be interesting... only one way to find out i guess :D

Was a good day, much better weather than the last 2 times I've been down there (same day as DVSJET & AC1200) I even got sunburnt

Track seemed as slippery in the early runs as when it was sopping wet the last time i was there, but it did improve, before peeps started bringing dirt onto the track ;)

Still was running with a 5500 limiter on the 20 so had to grab 3rd on the downhill into the 3rd corner and just before oh sh1t, thus meant if I tried to drive deep I always overshot the turn in point, thus screwing up the next 3 corners, stupidity sigh!

With a Kaaz replacing the locked diff, it made the arena section a lot easier, without the car constantly pushing wide and then sliding everywhere; easier to go faster but less fun and spectator entertainment :(

Figure 8 was heaps good, although I almost drove back up the hill on the first lap & I didn't like the plastic barriers they had sitting around, numerous bollards would be preferential to a big plastic block!!

Fastest normal time was 66.22 (only 0.5 faster than last time unforetunately)

Fastest figure 8 was 75.33 (had a BIG moment into the chicane b4 Oh Sh1t on 2nd run)

Some Pics me and a mate snapped during the day;

I had my first run there yesterday also, had a ball, I also had 4 runs on the clockwise and 2 on the figure 8...need more track time.

managed a 59.1 on the clockwise track and a 66something on the figure 8 track, the power delivery isnt the best which made it fun.

need more grip!!!!!!!

and thanks to NismoR31Jet for the help unloading the car......cheers mate >_<

whohoo, 56.3 hey! its on. my 55 was a 56.2 on the HHills timing board so thats mighty close. Dutton was also wet in the morning so its fair to say they are pretty comparable! Well done!

What are peoples opinions regarding the two layouts for the day? is it a good break up or would you rather do the same layout all day and get better at that?

I would have loved more time to get the car more sorted and for me go get the nuts to just give it more stick. I kept hearing a voice in the back of my mind telling me not to bend it, Skyline nats in 3 weeks!

Just some crappy vids I took in the car.

Biggest Off was this; poor lady, must have been stuck a while beside the road as I left quite a bit after you Anth.

2 courses was good, but I would prefer equal runs if doing so. Running everyone sequentially would be quicker, less stoppage time & if you miss your 'spot' you have to wait till the end of the sequence ...

Consequences make people more alert from my observations.

I think the figure 8 track is probably 'safer' as there really is only the blind crest into the tight chicane after the change over that does surprise you (plus there are walls quite close there), as compared to the off camber turn 3 & then into 5 (OS) if you're carrying lots of speed. Figure 8 seemingly flows better and would allow those with more power/traction/ballz a greater advantage as you can utilise it more than the straight Clockwise traverse as well.

Yeah it's not too bad Russ. Ran 2 more sessions after the hit and got my fastest time too. No mechanical or alignment damage. Have nearly got it back straight. Will file finish it this weekend and prime

it. Not sure about final coat as I was thinking of respraying her anyway over Christmas.

I liked the standard track and would have preferred more time to get that right than swapping to the figure 8. That said the figure 8 had it's god points. Though it would be so much better if the linking track had ripple strips to identify the corner better!

I liked mixing it up with the figure of 8. I actually may even prefer that layout to the regular layout. Feels like you can carry a lot more speed and really work the tyres with the cambers working with you instead of against you.

Having said that, with 5 competetive runs maybe it's best to just run the one direction on the day, but I'm glad I got to experience both. A full day of the 8 would be really good.

That they are Ryan, thanks  Like I said I was wrapped with the 56 but I do feel there is more in it. Given a good lap, on a good day I have no doubt my R in its current form is capable of a high 55.

It was good to do the figure 8 and I did enjoy it - with a bit more seat time around it I think it could be the better layout. One of the +'s is the fact that it is a little bit longer addressing the biggest knock at HHills that it is too short. It was always going to be a problem with 60+ cars there but I would've liked a another go at the original layout...Dannys time was within reach and I felt I could've bettered it.

Oh well...next time

Unforgiving place isnt it.

I think we actually had our first real damage at any one of our (WRX) track day at that track.

I sort of agree running both layouts on the day sort of slowed it down. It also sort of stops people (by having to restart again on different layout) right when everyone is dialing in on their times.

Now everyone has experienced both its interesting to see the comments.

If you were only to do one layout in the day, which one would you prefer.?

The evo caught something in the grass (when they went off) on their front tow loop which then ripped front of car off.

I feel very sorry for them.

It was nice to chat with you all on the grid.

Liked doing both layouts as it makes it more interesting on the day.

Doing the same layout is good for pb's but variety is the spice of life.

I think doing more days to get good at either layout is preferable to doing the same old thing over and over.

thanks for posting the pictures MacGillaZ,

does anyone have any more?

there were heaps of photographers snapping action shots all day but none have surfaced yet!

i was looking forward to seeing a few..

anyway, as most have said, i enjoyed the straight track but would have liked to have at least 1, perhaps 2 more runs at it.

however,

i thought the figure of 8 was far more fun than the straight track.
