i was JUST driving in my car along, when BAM pot hole. i wasnt speeding or anything, it was a tight rd, so i was doing like 50k... the damn thing rips a massive hole in my BRAND NEW f**kIN TYRE!!!

im so pissed off, its beyond words. then i spoke to some people about making the council pay for my tyre. its not my fault the rds are shit. i pay my taxes to have the rds fixed, SO WHY ARE THEY NOT DOING IT?

apparently its a losing battle with the council? what shud i do?

im not having a good week. i just got the car, and so far this week (2nd week of owning car) :

1. fan belt on too tight.. almost snapped till i got it replaced

2. battery died on me last night. was stranded at work. and no i didnt not leave any lights on. the negative terminal was loose. dumbest thing ever.

3. pot hole ripping open tyre in car

4. 30 seconds ago... the negative terminal on the battery just shattered in Doof's hands.... it was rusted to shit....

fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck

i deal with councils almost on a daily basis. they dont do anything unless you put pressure on them. when they say "ill have to call you back" always ask WHEN, and give them a time frame. say "5mins? 10mins?" they usually answer with "ill have to speak to my supervisor and ......." just ask "how long does that take? 5 mins? 10mins??". never hang up unless you get a time frame so you've got some ammo when you have to call back.

but good luck anyway!

EDIT: always ask for a name and a direct contact number as well as what department theyre from.

Call them back every day until you get a result, if they realise you wont give up on it they will often cave in.

My family has had to do that before to get the local council to cut down trees that were overhanging and damaging our property. Rang the council every day for a week, and at the end of it they sent someone out, and the trees were cut down.

well, im not letting them get away with it...

but, i have heard stories that its a losing battle. its good to know that some ppl have had winning battles with the council before.

i think i will badger them till i get a result... but its also finding the time to badger them too. i work 6days a week and longer than normal office hours... gah!

i think imma leave it for another 10mins or so, then ring them again...

dear council,

you are assholes. when you say you will call back, please do. did your mother not teach you not to lie? if you have no intention of calling back, please admit to being useless and tell us you have no intention of calling back so i may yell at you.

also, dont tell me my complaint has been placed on the message board. if there are ppl infront of me on the board, clearly that indicated YOU ARE NOT DEALING WITH THESE COMPLAINTS!

again... you fail.

love,

Anna

Might be worthwhile checking out the wheel to make sure it didnt crack it or warp the rim in any way.. No use putting a claim for a tyre if the wheel is stuffed also and not being able to get $$ for that aswell..

Good luck with it, Will take a few weeks to get money if successful unfortunately..

things you will need for your case are.

Closeup photos of the hole

A broad photo of the street showing that the pothole is indeed on that street

pics of damage

Time and Date with any witnesses to back your claim

And yeah when ringing be sure to get names because once you have a name you have someone to blame when you go to the supervisor/manager.. It's the only way to get results..

If you have to. Go back to the scene in the same light/time of day for anything you missed as mismatching photos will kill you.. Councils are like CSI.

p.s. Make Doof do it the jobless bum!

One of my old school friends had damage repaired on her car after a big stick fell on it denting the bonnet lol. Helps that there is a solicitor in her family though! So at least it's definitely possible. Just need to threaten them with something most likely lol.

    • UPDATE: Hi all!  As we are getting towards the end of this thread where I’ll showcase final dyno numbers and graph, I wanted to provide an update. Tao from HyperGear has done an amazing job building the custom divided T3 housing for the G30. Communication was flawless, price was great, and now the housing is estimated to arrive in 7-10 days! Very very pleased. I must add, if someone is looking for an affordable turbo and end up reading this thread, I would recommend HyperGear. Genuine brands are the way to go as their proven reliability, predictable performance, and there’s a plethora of information available for specs, flow, and more. This HyperGear recommendation is based on their excellent communication, dedication, and willingness to listen to their customers. I particularly liked their ability to create custom adaptations tailored to specific needs, which is a HUGE benefit over other brands. And if we consider the HyperGear provided dyno results, it adds reassurance knowing their turbos can compete against genuine brands. Next update will be after the dyno!
    • I've previously seen people post up "dress up bolt kits" for RBs but don't remember seeing them specify the full contents. I can only really suggest you grab the verniers and start measuring, and keep in mind the cam cover and timing cover bolts are both quite specific with a wider unthreaded section where the bushes sit, that will make it hard to get aftermarket replacements which tend to be all thread (set screws) or for longer bolts a flat section with a shorter threaded section at the end
    • I believe there was a similar one posted by @duggyphresh. They were re-routing their battery positive cable in the way I am also trying to achieve. Sorry, I’m new to this forum, so was a bit late to the party by a few months and so reignited the old thread, as I wanted to know how they got on with doing it.
