Personal Imports

Hi. Does Australia still have a 'personal imports' law... Just picked up an 'R here in the UK, and if at all possible I'd like to take it back home...

And I will (of course) have copies of everything - proof of insurance, MOT copies, etc.

you will need to own it for minimum 12 months to Qualify for personal import scheme to bring it back to Australia.

Cool... We'll probably be here for another 2 years, so that won't be a problem.

I know it will need to be legal in whatever state I get it registered (might move to brizzy for a month), but does it need to be 'stock', or can it be modified & still get approval?

Why bother? For all the hoops you have to jump through, it would be easier just to send it back and get it complied through SEVS.

the personal imports scheme is only really useful if you're bringing something BULLSHIT in

like a final model Honda NSX or something like that... there's no point making your hair go gray over a GTR... just bring it over through Sevs!

SEVS --> stock though, right? for that hassle, I may as well just buy a gtr in Aus.
