they are a piggy back ecu. depending on what version it is determines exactly what and how much you can tune it. the emanage ultimate will allow tuning of both timing and fuel and aren't a bad system to use (rather user friendly with the software setup). they are better than something like a SAFC.

as for what mods will warrant having one, you would see gains on just a stock engine, however i wouldn't bother using one until you were upgrading turbos and/or injectors, etc. and even then it wouldn't be my first choice in ecu's.

Rowan - I have an emanage ultimate sitting in my house waiting fo me to stop being a poor ass and buy the harness to suit teh soarer. Had it on the skyline for a while, they are a pretty good thing, not the best for a crazy setup but good for a stockish car.

As the soarer forum guys would say do a BFI and exhaust and you will get 200rwkw and beat every poxxy skyline every built lololololololol :ermm:

Great engine control if you have a good tuner that understands its capabilities. If there is a remap option that would be the best of course.

Pity you aren't in Melbourne, Cihan would be the best option for 1j Emu install around these parts, perhaps you should get in touch with him through the soarer forums.

    • Excuse me for butting in....but which part of ADHD can be considered a superpower? I would have though it far more likely that some ASD comorbidity is more likely to be contributing to an ability to hyperfocus on something. ADHD being aimed somewhat in the other direction. My shed looks like your shed. My whiteboard list of unfinished projects has entries going back 15 years. I know what you're talking about - I just struggle to connect ADHD to the results being discussed.
    • Thanks for reaching out!  It's a blessing and a curse at the same time.  I'm undiagnosed but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see it in me... I have more half started projects laying around my house, shed, garden, etc taking up space and money, destroying aesthetics than if I added up all of my mates projects together. But, ADHD gives me the ability to hyper focus on things that no mere mortal could even  comprehend.  A recent pool build is an example of that....  I dont know anyone else that would be dumb enough and focused enough to take on then complete something of that magnitude. I call ADHD a superpower but it can equally be completely destructive if not controlled and focusedon the right places. Addiction is a major concern to ADHD people and thankfully my addictions have been no worse than projects, XBOX, chocolate and being an arsehole! It's often hereditary and my 13 year old son is currently learning how to drive it at the moment. Keep lurking! If i can finally finish this bloody thing at some point it will be a win for all of us ADHD'ers! 🤪
    • I've been quietly following this thread for ages, but this one got me. Since my ADHD diagnosis (and associated learnings and prescription) I'm way less inclined to wade into forum yarns when there are better things to do with my time, as half the time I'd end up in some kind of forum debate even if that wasn't my intention. I've not lost the ADHD "superpowers", just am a lot better at directing my hyperfocus into slightly more constructive things, but haven't stopped quietly lurking in here in my spare time.
    • Stripped the tank down and gave it a good scrub. It came up really good! Not sure if I'll just put it back in like that or give it a blackening treatment (such as Bowdens The Black Box). That might give it a matte look so might just run it as is.
    • @MBS206 Ha ha, yeah ADHD is a daily battle to not get drawn in to doing things you want to do that you know you shouldn't do!  Every single time I walk into my shed I end up doing something I started the day having zero intention of doing! I keep mentioning the 1 step forward, 3 steps back scenario and I'm tipping people that are blessed with ADHD (yes, blessed) are the worst at that!
