lol leave teh lebs alone funky.

but slinky if u get 18s with lower profile tyres the car will actually look worse as the gap from top of tyre to guard will be increased and still look aids.

better off lowering it on stock wheels better over all loook.

Funky and Slinky are getting along fine :P

A decent set of 18" will go well on a R34, fill out the guards so it sits flush with the guards.

Get a decent set of coil overs and lower it and your all set.

+ it will improve the handling of your car.

Depends on which spoiler you got, R34 4 doors looks better without it unless you got the boot lip spoiler, which adds a nice lip to the end.

Looking at your pics again I don't think your car is a year 2000. Either 1998 or 9. You still have the series 1 font bar and headlights. Also if you had a series 2 sedan you would already have a lip on your bootlid standard and wouldn't need a spoiler

Hey everyone,

I have finally put pictures up on Gallery of my car. I had so many problems getting them to upload, but it's all sweet now.

I suppose it's a GTv because it has HICAS but if anyone else can tell me anything else from the photos, that'd be great. Any hints, comments question would be great.

cheers

Chanz

Yes - It's a GTv. I can see the big brakes up front, which need the 17" GTt wheels to clear them.

You got the best setup for doing a turbo conversion in the future - if you decide.

I don't think you can get an r34 series 2 (year 2000) in a gt. Only a gt-v. That's based on all I've seen

It's the last of the series 1 R34. Nissan introduced the GTv as a limited edition sweetener before transitioning into series 2. All the GTt bits minus the turbo engine...

GTV was like the R34 version of the R32 V-Selection series... basically a GT with all the trick options from the faster models.

The V is for Victory, FYI, as in "We are Victorious in JGTC, fuck you toyota and honda, hugs n kisses, Nissan"

I'll leave it up to you guys to decide if you like the spoiler or not, I'll add photos later tonight.

Spoiler is now on (Thanks for the excellent buy, Kye) and my arse no longer looks like I spend all day in the KFC drive through. I know what a few of you guys say about the spoiler but I think it makes the rear look more narrow then it really is.

I had the car professionally detailed on Saturday, so it looks a LOT nicer, and the yellow smog tinge is now gone from my headlights.

I have been thinking about getting it lowered, but I have no idea about the cost, how long it takes, good brand springs (not top of line- I'm a poor uni student but not supercheap auto cheap either) and also someone reputable in the Northern or Western suburbs??

KRYZSUI- I've done a little reading since I read your post, and I believe you are right. Build date was late 1999, wasn't sold/registered until 2000.

BC coilovers for suspension cheap and good product.

Thanks....My knowledge on suspension is very limited, so anything else you can tell me about them would be appreciated.

can any one give me some links?

arnt bc coilovers adjustable and like over a grand? because theres gotta be a cheaper way of lowering. how about just changing the springs? obiously im not taking this NA R34 to the track, 3-3.5 cms lower would be pretty good hey? the wheel arch's would be filled and it would sit lower

any info and/or links would be much appreciated:)

Get a decent set of TEIN Springs.

- http://www.fulcrumsuspensions.com.au/tein.html#TEIN S-Tech Coil Springs

They do a good job.

I would not put King Springs on my Skyline, but that's just me.

yeah but what sort of money am i looking at?

Too much

I got my BCs brand new for $1200. I'm guessing they'd be around the same price for a Skyline.

Best value coilovers in my opinion and a lot of people praise the ride quality.

She was talking about just changing the Springs, not the whole setup.

Roughly between $221 - $500

Hey awesome to see your car up here! Finally got mine back, just need to take some photos now

I'm planning to lower my car 30mm on tein s.tech springs. Because mine is older I'll probably have to replace the shocks as well but not sure about yours. They sound like they have a good review from people on here. Bendigo Tyre Centre have them but I haven't been in to talk to them about prices yet.

Thanks for the advice guys. I was talking to my boyfriend about getting it lowered on the weekend and I said I would probably expect to pay up to $1000 to get it lowered, so I'm glad to see it's much less then I was expecting.

Kye-thanks for the link, was very interesting. I'd be interested to see what they would charge for fit and supply.

I'll be waiting to see photos, I haven't been able to see it yet >_< I got mine detailed on the weekend cost $150 to have the exterior only done. I'll be putting pics up once I get a nice day and maybe a cool back drop (that's better then my driveway)

    • True, might get it looked at. Found out you can in fact flatten the 12v battery relatively easily too the other day (kids lefts the hazards on) so meaning to get that checked in the new year. What's odd is it'll blow cold from both vents if you have the ac down as low as poss (18), but anything else the passenger one blows warmish. Also has been summer since I got it obvs but noticed it didn't seem to want to blow hot last night when we had a cold snap.
    • You ask for things. You specifically state you want responsiveness. A link was provided for a far superior, more responsive option. Find a MX5 workshop that will install it for you. Maybe MX5 Mania will throw on the Fab9 kit. It seems they want to charge almost 14K installed for their kit, so if they charge you $6K to install the FAB9 kit then you'll be ahead? Though really, the 2.5 with a 2860 running low boost will more or less feel as good as anything else. It's a lot of displacement and a small turbo. Think of a more modern RB26 with one stock turbo :p TBH, truth be told I've been driving my own car, and use about 50% throttle at most for 99.9% of the time. Mr Bogan is likely similar so this is all going to be semantics for the use case he actually has. (He'll be happy with anything relative to now) However, the EFR is hands down far superior in this use case. You really, really, really, really do notice it over the Garrett or equivalent.
    • You are correct, the earlier the torque, the earlier things snap
    • Gents, it will be getting the MX5 Mania kit and the 2.5 will be staying where it is My query was about the 0.64 or the 0.86, whilst the 0.64 might spool a bit faster, would the 0.86 be better IRT EGT and mechanical sympathy, with only a small difference in spool And as I assume I won't need alot of boost to get to 200kw, probably around 10 psi, and with max rpm at 6500, would high EGT even really be a issue with a 0.64 I'm heading into MX5 Mania at the end of Jan to discuss the install, so any info is welcome prior to that Basically have a chat and book a time so they can throw on the turbo kit, and fit a oil cooler with a thermostat, drive in drive out of course  In other news: just finished cleaning the car inside and out, it's now all ready to get covered in bugs and dirt driving to Goulburn tomorrow to lunch,  and go for a stroll along woolondilly River with the daughter and her boy, and of course, visit my grandcats and my new grandpuppy
    • Sounds like it has an actual problem with mode select doors, or something.
