lol each to their own i guess

True. I have opinions on a few cars there, but they're my opinions and I'll keep them off the forum. Some people like that kind of thing ... so good on him.

I have a few ideas for future displays which I'll bounce off the Committee shortly. Must keep going from strength to strength. :)

I agree with Ruby everyone has different tastes when it comes to modifying cars and others should respect their opinions. Good for him that he entered autosalon he is supporting the cause and supporting car toys, as a car toys club member im proud of him. The future of autosalon is dying due to many people these days hating RICER cars and most cars in autosalon are considered as a RICE, i was chatting to to the autosalon executives and they were pissed off at Adelaide's attitude. So many people have worked so hard to bring it back to Adelaide only to have dirt chucked back in their faces. Less cars than previous years entered, not many trade stands were present. As for the future of autosalon Adelaide can say bye bye we be really lucky if they come back next year

actually, screw it. my opinion will rattle fragile egos.

you of all people arent allowed an opinion until u enter a show dave :)

think this is the first autosalon a car of mine hasnt been in since my first show in 05 and the R would have been there if it wasnt still in brisbane LOL

You lie matty.

You were parked next to me in 08. When I had the JZX81.

LOL at the promo girls/ model things.

Sticks are for the tree's. Also one of the girls on the maroon 32 is pulling a hilarious face.

Well done on the award guys.

The first time I attended an AS was in 02 or 03, and I never attended another. Shiny bits, graphics, air brushing, and 20 sub woofers in one car was never my thing, and this theme definitely outnumbered the performance cars that i was hoping to find there. I think a lot of others feel the same.

To the AS execs not liking Adelaide's attitude; suck it up! What goes up must come down...

The business model works well interstate in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane where the crowd loves it but Adelaide is more drift/jap-spec orientated. Maybe numbers are down because people in Adelaide simply don't bother with that style anymore? What's the point of spending huge $$ in a show-pony car that will only ever leave the shed for Autosalon otherwise it will be instantly defected? Blame SAPOL.

Autosalon has to remove their image of blinged up cars with 7 LCD's in the firewall and bonnet.

An Excel with an air-filter hanging out the front bar is no longer appealing to the kids of SA.

I'd love to see a 'where are they now' of the old cars from Autosalon's from a few years back... the Indulge WRX, Hulk WRX, that Wizard air-brushed WRX... In fact all that sticks in my mind is the WRX's you used to see there all the time haha.

lol. ive entered 3 with 2 different cars.

just never felt the need to enter autosalon, neither of my cars have had enough lcd's in the engine bay/on the diff housing/instead of headlights.

was tempted this year just to have a bit of time f**king around with everyone, but yeah nah, id rather earn a few hundred bucks than spend it at as.

I'm sorry, but if the general public doesn't like what they see - then thats their choice. After all the show is for the general public and it is at the end of the day a business. If a business can not offer what its clientel want to see then so be it. If they accept a heap of cars with bling fpos rims that went out of style 2005 then its time to move on and keep up with the current. I say good riddance, I didn't even go. However good display for the SAU boys which I did give my congratulations in the other thread.

Good on you if you mod your car to what you want, but if you don't want to hear what people have to say... then don't put it in car shows. Your not going to tickle everyones fancy and thats fine too... but your putting yourself out there to be judged. Can't accept it, then don't offer your cars in shows and self admire your car.

edit: just noticed cronics post which pretty much is exactly what I said lol

JDM Spec - All Japan Day

Horsepower & toughness- Extreme Horsepower

Pure show cars - Autosalon

To ask the board of Autosalon to change a business model that works extremely well in the east is ridiculous. If they now realise that the market they are targeting doesnt really exist in Adelaide, then so be it. They just wont host a round in Adelaide, or they will host a smaller show.

The reason why autosalon is what it is, is because of how the judging works. You arent going to get King of Autosalon by having a tough street car with a dirty underbody/ wheel wells, standard street spec sound system and no bodykit. Its pretty simple.

I agree with what you're saying there Wayne. If you put your car into a show, its there to be judged ... by the show judges as well as the public. Gotta take the sweet with the sour.

I'm sure my Stagea had a few comments made I wouldn't approve of, but I'm aware of that. Compare it to Mike's Stag, and Mike's is just pure porn with those rims (I want those rims) :O when you look at it from a show viewpoint. However, I enter my car as part of a club display (not individual display), trying to put it out there that its not just a family wagon. Its my daily, my track car, my time attack car, and my weekend car.

But still, gotta take the criticism as well as the admiration.

:P

Was an excellent weekend i think, be interesting to see if they run it next year or can the whole idea. Great effort for the club attitude award, and was good to see a few of the non entered SAU guys wandering around.
