Ah well. If you do have cash left over, an SSD is awesome for your OS and key applications if you have $$ left over. I got one for my gaming rig since I didn't have enough for an upgrade and holy moly!

Ye SSD is on the cards, as is a i7 upgrade for the gaming box ;)

cost? More than your server for the space you need unless you want to swap a bunch of tapes every time you backup or restore.

Ye, how much more? :D

Well you could go dual drive LTO3/4 or LTO5.

LTO5 single $1800+ drive $130+ per tape - 3TB

LTO4 single $1200+ drive $45+ per tape - 1.6TB

LTO3 single $1300+ (wierd) drive $30+ per tape - 800GB

Prices from staticice, obviously you'd be looking for second hand drives and tapes. LTO5 is brand new so good luck with that.

This this is god like; it holds 25x 300/600Gb SDLT-2 Tapes, it has 2 tape drives, and a fiber channel add on interface (also can use scsi). It is the perfect backup solution for any enterprise that requires on hand backup as well as off site backup (it includes a mail slot for easily removable storage). The whole thing is managed by an LCD touch screen. Its 5ru, and cost over $13,000 new. Comes with 1 cleaning tape.

1x 18 RU comms cabinet.

This is the perfect cabinet to run your home wiring to. It will fit in a decent sized closet, or can easily be wall mounted in the garage. Currently it holds my adsl modem, ups, patch panel and switch.

I cbfd signing up if i dont have too lol... Sounds like a reasonable deal though pending prices of the tape, which seem to be around 100US ea, not a bad deal for 600GB vs 1TB of disk...

      Welcome.  Glad to hear that you have gained some knowledge that has helped you. I believe the only fix for the power steer belt is an electric conversion with a Holden astra pump. If you get a chance, post pics of your car, please. 🙂

      Harness update time have had great fun and learnt so much already so far with this project. I started off making both the ignition and injector sub harnesses in the hope any mistakes i made here aren't as hard to undo and learn from as the main harness.  A cool comparison of the old harness using presumably TXL wire and the new which is using Tezel. Also opted to use DTM plugs to keep the whole setup as neat and tidy as possible and tucked the wiring under the coil bracket to try and keep it all from sticking out too much. Although the injector harness, I'm not overly happy with as I'm still using the rubber boots that are supplied with the type of plugs it just looks ugly and sticks out like a sore thumb with the white identifiers so a slight redesign may be done.   Then it was main harness time and most importantly trying to route it nice and away from the heat it will use the OEM heater hose routing which is no longer present to keep the harness up high and secure. it's amazing how much smaller this harness is able to be compared to the old one. plugged everything into the emtron and with the help of the tuner again attempted to start it up and instantly fired up and running smoothly on all 6 which was a big shock to myself. So still some routing and adjusting to be done for the final fit up and installing a knock sensor harness plug which is in the post all has gone surprisingly well.     The old harness for shits and giggles.
