Hey guys,

Just thought I'd post up some pics of some fabrication work I did on my best mate's Mk 2 Golf GTi.

We retired the old 1.8 atmo 8 valve motor and swapped in a 20v 1.8Turbo motor out of a MK4 GTi. We originally swapped in a standard motor but it clearly wasn't enough, so we upgraded the turbo.

With a GT28RS it has made 185fwkw at 15psi on a very safe tune.

The most difficult aspect was fabricating the exhaust side of the motor- when we put the new turbo in the motor was still in the car, and the turbo is right up against the firewall (= hard)

The turbo downpipe needed to clear the brake booster, engine mount, manifold and firewall, as well as incorporating a wastegate return.

Then we needed to fab up a steampipe bend to plumb the wastegate into the manifold...

I'm a lawyer, not a welder, but gave it a go anyway!

We had the motor out last weekend to put a new clutch/gearbox in so I thought I'd take some snaps of the setup.
