Nm35 Sway Bars

Hi guys,

I'm at the point where I'd like to add sway bars to finish off my car from a handling point of view, and I know several forum members have Selbys (or Superior Suspension) set-ups that were made by Sydneykid, first fitted Andy65b's AR-X and the subject of a very detailed and interesting thread.

Superior/ Selby don't appear to exist anymore, and Sydneykid only pops up from time to time, so I'm wondering if I've left my run too late.

Did some other company take over, or purchase Superior Suspension's intellectual property, (i.e Whiteline, etc) and is there still a way to get these bars, or am I looking at having to start from scratch and go custom made?

Whiteline only have listings for 350Z (and I believe the rear bar is similar/ compatible) but to be honest, after purchasing bars from them in the past wasn't hugely impressed with the fit (ended up fabricating my own mounting hardware on more than one occasion) :D , nor am I keen on paying $500+ each :woot: for Freeway Dolphin.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers, Dale

Dale, I have sent you a PM with Sydneykid's phone number (if still relevant).

He did sell the business but can still make up the sway bars as of a conversation we had earlier this year.

guys contact selbys swaybars in minto. new owners (sydneykid is gone unfortunately) but they still have the machinery and samples to bend up everything (about 3000 sway bars on the wall last time I was there). the m35 one will still be there.

won't be as cheap as whiteline but its great to support a local business.

  • 2 months later...

I have a set of Sydney Kids Selby bars and they are a worthy upgrade.

I also have my stock sway bars still if anyone want to borrow them for a company to bend and match a set to.

Cheers,

Ben.

Fulcrum now own the Selby's name, I contacted them recently about our sway bars;

1; They are 27mm front (instead of 30mm) blade adj, 20mm rear (instead of 22mm) blade adj :D .

2; They now cost $457 (front) $418 (rear) :P

3; there is a 4-6 week turnaround on orders

4; After contacting Wholesale Suspension in Penrith, the price dropped to $360 (front) $340 (rear) due to the amount of business they do with Fulcrum.

I would be leaning towards trying to find someone to re-make the original bars, this might be a more cost effective way to get what we want. I'm not against anyone making a buck, but surely we can do better...

Hi Adrew, I sold the business at Xmas time but I still do some design work for the new owner. The only difference is the price is not quite as good, they are $245 each delivered which is still better than the $300 retail. There are a couple of guys looking at Group Buy for M35 Swaybars and so far I have got the price down to $230 each. If the timing is OK, you can join in with them if you like. I think they are looking at the end of the month, maybe tax time, no definite timing as yet.

Cheers

Are you still in contact with him?

I'm sure we can get enough people together for another group buy.

I am sure I can get hold of Gary if everyone is serious. He is no longer in the industry and has obviously sold selbys but he can still source stuff.

Just don't expect quick turnarounds, he is only doing this sort of stuff on the side.

BTW yes selby's are expensive....but they are making one off custom sway bars. when doing common models, whiteline have the advantage of being able to pay china to make twisted lumps of metal in the right general shape which is of course heap cheaper. None of which changes the fact that swaybars are an amazing upgrade for these cars.
