Tyre Life Poll

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I thought it might be interesting to know what sort of life (mileage) people were getting out of a new set of the stock Bridgestones.

I know there will be lots of variables (type of driving style, track sessions etc) that will effect peoples results but still think it would be interesting to see the spread.

When I purchased my GTR the dealer told me to expect about 15,000km so it will be interesting to know what sort of mileage people are getting.

For the sake of a starting point I'll kick it off (even although I still haven't got through the first set yet). So far I have done 12,500km and still looks like there's plenty left on both front and rear (reckon I might get another 10,000km). No track work and alot of freeway miles.

My first set of tyres were the Dunlops. I got about 5 or 6 full track days (assorted tracks) and 16,000km.

I replaced them with Bridgestones which have lasted 2 full trackdays (front tyres badly worn) and 2000km. Not impressed.

Just had my 12mth/20klm service and been told original Bridgestone tyres worn down to legal height on the inside......no track days (yet)! But one in a couple of weeks to burn off the remaining rubber before replacing!! Could be interesting....

First set of DSST600s (Dunlops) lasted 17K. replaced with Dunlop 7010s which have done 14K and look like they will go another 6K.

I'm on 14k with the Bridgestone and it looks like there's at least 50% left on all fours. No track, mostly light street duties.

Doing mostly highway but with occasional mountain runs and has done just over 12500kms on my bridgestones.

Tyres are still going but last time i went for service the technicians said they will probably just last another 5000kms

I can definitely feel a lost of grip after around 8000k, and tyres are aquaplanting badly.

Love to hear people's feedback for wet driving.

Wow this is scary stuff to me - looks like people's tyres (Dunlops or Bridgestones) seem to be lasting 20-30,000 km of street us only(!) Sounds to me like the R35 could be very expensive on tyres... what is the average cost of OEM-equivalents (I guess Dunlops or Bridgestones)? Plus I suppose even more if you want run-flats?

3800kms on the 2011 Dunlops.

Did 1 track day on normal alignment settings and it has killed the tyres.

I have since changed the alignment settings to the track setting, I hope this will improve track wear.

Nissan quoted $4800 for 4 tyres so it's time for me to use the search function here now...

Just purchased my second set of Bridgestones.

first set was at 14000klms, second set at 27000klms.

Both sets came from Tempe tyres...cost a few days ago was $2550 unfitted.

These were the RE070 R2 which is the latest tyre (make sure they are latest version which is the "R2")
