Battlefield Bad Company 2 on a gaming PC

Ahh i see, I thought you might have been talking about Medal of honour, I only just got into it, just in time for Black ops to come out and now no one is ever online so i cant play online anymore lol

tbh I'm kinda over Black Ops multiplayer already. MUCH prefer BFBC2, graphics are also a ton better!

trust me you will be over bad company 2 soon, i stopped playing when i reached level 30. Black ops you can play alone and have a fun time, to have a really fun time in bc2 you need to have mates playing at the same time

not really, I just play on public servers with randoms all the time, like every other online shooter (apart from TF2). I like that even if the team isn't working cohesively together, you can still use individual skill to achieve objectives as well!

What's your username Ash?

Lol only the past week or so I've FINALLY bothered to start playing it online, and I was like  omg this shits all over CODBLOPS in everything!!!!

Can't get over how good it looks, and the destructible environments, and that not only can I run it smoothly with everything turned right up on my i5/GTX460 rig, but the lag at even 100ms is still better than COD with 40-50ms!

You'll be over it pretty quick if you face a competent pilot in a Hind/Apache.

Oh, any ping that is displayed is not what you're expecting, halve it and it's about the same as other games calcs but there is also massive lag compensation. Having a bad game? Go to a Euro server and prepare for lulz.

I am Helfarch in BC2, mostly play Rush when I get on and just dick around as most teams are fair shit. I was full rage last night a team was so bad. I didn't even know you could lose a Rush round that quickly, I'd plant and then realise that I was the only one alive or not failsniping from spawn.

haha yeah I have played with a few fail teams, especially when everyone wants to be a sniper, guess you have to pick your servers! my username strangely enough is Bozodos

I tried flying a helicopter a few times, ended in lulz and team rage

I had a few issues with lag, but the compensation must be a shitload better than COD (ie not like shoot directly at someone, game lags and then I get stabbed every time)

I tried flying a helicopter a few times, ended in lulz and team rage

lol reminds me of the first time I flew helicopter:

"Oh cool a helicopter!"

Jumps in.

Rest of team jumps in behind me.

I fly straight up, sideways, and into a cliff.

Insert team rage.

no idea lol just hit me up on steam. if I'm logging in, I'm around :)

and LOL @ helo... fken hilarious

I'm pretty sure my only objectives these days in BC2 is to use shit guns, be secretly devestated that 'all bronze stars' is effectively locked out from account unless I start again and finally get more than 300 marksman bonus.

This is the BC2 thread right?

Barrell rolls - it's what choppers do when I even think about being the pilot.

On topic - interesting indeed and shows how far behind todays PCs these ancient consoles are.

The 3D version of Black Ops on PS3 really isn't very satisfying at all, unfortunately. The 2D game already operates with a clear performance deficit in comparison to the 360 version and the additional drag factor of rendering for both eyes can impact playability immensely at times. We've logged the PS3 game running as low as 20FPS - and that's just in the very first street battle in the initial Cuba level.

Nasty.

played black ops on a mate's 360 last night, seamless gaming experience. seriously WTF. how the f**k can dedicated servers lag like a bitch when shooting at someone, yet playing on a peer hosted match on 360 is perfect.

both on cruddy little 1.5mb connections too.

That is unreal lol. I had a lucky bit where I shot someone, was reloading and someone else popped out, threw a flashbang, hid, finished reloading then managed to kill another 2 people that had been hit with the flash lol

but nothing like the video, I could never manage that

played the single player, almost complete in a few hours.

i reckon there is more cinematic crap than gameplay. each mission takes a few mins it seems?

graphics are not outstanding (failing of a console port really).

overall, unimpressed. BC2 was better. Glad i borrowed it from a mate...

yep I never finished single player, music is cool and its fun for a bit but you get over it pretty quick

my brother in law is a PC guy and he doesn't bother with the COD series, reckons the BF series much better for gaming PC

he watched me play COD on PS3 and was impressed tho, as Bozodos said its pretty seamless on console... black ops still isn't as smooth as MW2 for online though, I'm getting lots of drop outs etc, can be frustrating but I'm sure they'll patch it up

you can't really compare gaming PC with a 6 year old console... if you had a 6 year old PC and tried to play a newly released game your whole rig would melt into a pile of gray poop

    • This is the GTR fuel pump. Yellow shows 12V, orange shows earth. The ECU provides the earth to activate the fuel pump relay. The ECU side of teh relay will pull low when the ECU activates. This is the RB20 fuel pump. Almost the same, but a little simpler. You can see I indicated (above) where the 12V line goes down to the RB20 diagram on the overall diagram, whch shows both RB26 and RB20. This is where I show it coming in on the RB20 diagram below. You can see that the dropping resistor is handled differently. When the fuel pump control is not providing earth to the pump, the pump earths through the dropping resistor and thus runs at lower voltage (some is wasted over the resistor) and runs slower. I showed that "not 12V and not quite earth" portion of the wiring in a paler orange. The rest of the wiring that I did not colour on that little section below the pump would be orange when the fuel pump coontroller is providing earth. This drop is handled inside the fuel pump controller in the GTR. Regardless, you can see where 12V is supposed to be, where earth is supposed to be. The key on prime is via the ECU providing the pump for only a few seconds the switching off. You should be able to see that happen.
    • Yeah so when you turn key to IGN the fuel pump should run for a few seconds. If you find the fuel pump relay (and have a multimeter, and a second person) to can check the relay inputs.  One trigger pin should be either fully earthed  The other trigger pin should get 12v from the ECU for say 3 seconds when you turn key to IGN, and at all times that key is at START (note, I said this from memory, it may be the other way around, ie one pin always has IGN 12v and the earth has continuity to earth when you turn the key) One Pin should have a good battery voltage The last pin goes to the fuel pump + Also note that if the power to the relay is good, and the relay is working, it is worth checking the pump has a good earth too. There is a computer in the standard system that increases the earth resistance to slow down the pump when not required, pretty old school and it may have failed
    • All this talk about fuel and fancy ECUs, meanwhile my poor old R32 has neither.... When the ignition is turned on, should there be power running o the fuel pump constantly or just for the few seconds it usually takes to prime the pump? About to go have another look at it, have watched some YouTube vids on how to use a  multimeter and looked at some wiring diagrams but really have NFI what I'm looking for because electricity is invisible
    • Yuh....but weren't all the supertourers, except maybe the Audis, FWD? I don't recall any of the others being AWD.
    • They ran them in Oz Super Tourers too https://www.supertouringregister.com/register/vehicle/212/ (I'm so old I remember racing with Matthew Fox) They ran them in Oz Super Tourers too https://www.supertouringregister.com/register/vehicle/212/ (I'm so old I remember racing with Matthew Fox)
