Dandy tourist rd is good except for the tourists.

Like coming down the side heading toward Canterbury Rd.

Like going up via Burwood Hwy and that left hairpin :P

Off Dandy tourist Rd is Mtn Hwy, that good going up and down, less cars.

Reefton Spur good or is it just past that going out of Reefton?

There's a turn off left you take to Lake Mountain, 100m in front of the turn off is

an access road and a big fence for yarra valley water?

For the flat area.

Some favourite roads are past Wonthaggi going into Tarwin Lower / Venus Bay,

great winding roads and tightening bends with some decent straights with one monster straight :D

v.enjoyable.

And if you game to get lost out the back of Wonthaggi a bit north of Leongatha, some real twisty

up and down all over the shop hills and dales, bit of a steep ascent/decent on a bend here and there it will test you!!

Those locations sound incredible.

mountain hwy from bayswater to olinda, I do it most weekends

really great road but bye bye car if you make a mistake

...as I found out in my r31

Ouch. I know the feeling. King lake roads + 1am + open cliff face = epic fail.

Route between Whittlesea and Yea.

Very generous speed limit of 100km/h - most of the time you will be doing about 70 to 80km/h. Some nice 90 degree turns and hairpins with changes in elevation - mainly sweeping bends that are very deceiving - don't go at them too quick. Nice surface and very light traffic - but be careful of some wet patches on the road (because of natural springs), falling branches and some tourists heading Mt. Buller way.

In Yea there is this awesome pizza place next to the petrol station. It has some V8 supercar memorabilia on the walls and the pizza is "probably" the best I've tasted.

love that hairpin!! haha

the route from canterbury road is far smoother than from burwood hwy, i've only ever been down towards canterbury but i reckon it would be better to go up

seekool: just checked out the whittlesea-yea road, looks really good! thanks for the tip :)

It was great on the bike, winds on forever.

I never see any po-po until the Whittlesea end luckily.

I like that road, joins on to the kinglake rd doesn't it not too far before the old pub?

Apparently pretty dangerous in the wet i've heard in years gone by.

I found some back rd around there just heading out of whitlesea or was i in yarrambat...anyway,

one of the steepest roads iv'e ever come across! like a roller coaster, we went up and down then

back a few times just for fun:)

Ohh nearly forgot, on the way to Yea, there's a turn off on the right to murrindidi

and the old mill, nice couple of kmh's of winding driving there, after the mill all gravel/dirt camping area.

Yes spot on.

It is dangerous because the surface is so smooth and not well banked - Just by looking at the sweeping bends - It "seems" you can attack them at close to the speed limit (100km/h) but that's suicide IMHO - change in elevation in turns do not help either - at about 80km/h I can feel slight wash out so I back off to around 70km/h. I'd hate to imagine what its like in the wet.

Glad you like it.

All this talk of mountain runs got me itching for a cruise :touch:

Maybe when the weather is nicer I might plan a non-official pizza cruise to Yea (and maybe surrounding areas)

keep an eye out for EPA vans and wildlife.

also, cyclists can be absolute flamin mongrels on mt roads. i remember being passenger on a SAU cruise up through king lake. the road was probably 1.5 lanes wide at most, with polls right on the outer edge. we had at least 15 maybe 20 cars on that cruise and we seemed to have caught up with a bunch of cyclists. not one of them pulled over focusing everyone to drive on the wrong side of the road.

    • I'm not up to date on the latest, but for basic modifications like pod filter, lower springs etc you can get a modification permit at the time of inspection.  For more serious modifications you will need engineering.  Intercoolers used to fall into the mod permit rule but its been a long while since i looked it up.   Either way you will be able to get it registered, just a case of $300 vs $3k .
    • Hi everyone! I’m the new owner of a 1996 R33 GTS-T, I’ve purchased this car over from Queensland and brought it to Western Australia and I’ve found that there is a hole cut out in the engine bay for the FMIC that enters into the wheel well (fender liners are in the boot). For anyone that has had to get their car over the PITS here, will this be a major issue?
    • Yeah I've spotted this one too, whenever it's lotto superdraw week and I'm browsing car sales dot com for my new ride They must be dreaming, maybe it's worth 150k for the link to Brock?
    • 100% accurate!  We are a pack of know it alls....  But, I bet people go to you when they have a problem! I've been on a bit of a clean up rampage too over the past month!  I've thrown more shit in the bin over the past 2 weeks than I have in the past 3 years combined! Anyway, it's all good fun being different! My wife sometimes does not agree!
    • ADHD in all form isn't about "can focus, or can't focus" or is hyper active or isn't etc.   It's all a dysregulation. Either time feels to be stationary, or time just vanishes in a split second. We are either under focussed on the task at hand (as we're over focussed on our surroundings) or we have no idea an atomic bomb went off beside us as we're so hyper focussed and locked in on things.   Not to mention the rapid fire thought process. What it takes a "normal" process to think up a solution to a problem, ADHD will be able to give you 5 different ways to solve the problem, and the pros and cons of each. While we can be highly impulsive and lack the ability to "control ourselves" we can also become paralysed with the inability to make a decision for ourselves. While most of us have an OCD like requirement for perfection, we lack the ability often to remain focussed to get things to a perfect state. Those with undiagnosed ADHD as adults, can often find the last part actually stops them ever attempting to do things that they have the ability to do, as the reasoning is often "if I can't do it perfectly, it's not worth doing"   As for projects... Ha ha ha, I still need to take the other half of my wall trim down in the Fiance's office so I can paint it. Need to finish digging and running the back yard drains, my R33, getting the Ninja bike registered (now being sold), the moped project, fixing either of the lawn mowers so they're reliable, along with a myriad of other things.   It's why I've been going through lately and just being brutal and clearing projects off that I won't actually ever complete. IE, moped will go to the tip, or be given away, bike is being sold, Subaru project being sold, some parts for other projects given away. Or I've been making myself focus on one thing at a time, by ticking off the smallest quickest ones first.   There's also a reason by our mid twenties we seem to be "know it alls", as we've all been down some of the weirdest and oddest rabbit holes when you follow the dopamine trail. It's often also why we're more a jack of all trades, but not a master of one.   However, pretty much all of my hobby projects, in one way or another, all come back around to automotive. That's my zen area.
