Whats the best way to get to the cap seal at the rear of each (right and left) to change the xenon globes

As far as I can see there are 3 alternatives;

1) Remove the airbox (right) and the washer bottle (left) to allow enough room to get right in there

2) Remove each inner guard to allow room to go from underneath

3) Remove the entire headlight, insert globes and replace headlight

All seem pretty time consuming - just want to know whos done it and what the easiest, least time consuming way to go bout it...

#3 mate, front bar is easy to get off. 3 screws and each whole assembly is out.

Of course I would probably try all other ways first and be cursing. :rolleyes:

yeah thats what i was thinking, front bar and lights out is easy..

anyway/.. when looking at your lights are you going to put in hid's again?

be sure to check the plug end that goes into the main globe.. mine were burnt out and i had to buy a new/used hid driver from japan.. cost about $60 from yahoo.

my left light kept flicking, and often wouldnt work at all. tho sometimes would work.. i just used the other headlights that car has (switch closer to the steering colum)

those arent headlights, those are your fog lights.

anyway, it was easy enough for me to install my HIDs by opening the wheel arch covers and sticking my hands through. airbox must be removed on the NS, and the radiator overflow on the OS to get your hands in there.

Zei20l - Yeah thats what Ive been doing, using the fog lights or whatever they are on the light stem closest to the steering wheel.

If they are fogs shouldnt they be that vibrant yellow colour?

Either way they will get me through until I swap em over

Angus Smart - As for the plug end that goes into the main globe my driver side light was working until my major service, which saw Coolant go all over the front inside area of engine which my mech washed away with water that went all over the front of the engine

Im going to replace the globe (i.e. perishable) and if that fails, the onus is on them to fix it...

Just an observation - you would think that Nissan would make it easier to replace a such common item?? I never had to post to swap the headlight on my r32!

well, an HID should last many thousands of hours and probably rarely replaced in the usable lifetime of the car. thats why its not easy :D

not all fog lights are yellow, but put them next to some xenons and they look yellow as hell haha
