Beer Baron
And just as a sidenote, what do we all think of the ARC airbox ? meh. I used to love them. I bought one. the internal bell mouths are ok but could be a little better. the big problem is that it's bloody heavy and is right up the front of the car and nice and high too. that's the last place you want weight in a GTR. the other problem is it just sucks air from inside the engine bay just like a set of pods does so I can't really see any advantage to it over a set of good pods. and in fact pods with a shield are probably better. plus they are expensive to buy, and expensive to maintain (filter cost is through the roof). you can replace 2 apexi pods for $120-$160. so personally I wouldn't use one. Marlin
Tend to agree, the weight being the main reason and they just take up So much room. I think they're efficiency is ok, as I'm not a believer in the neccessity of CAI for turbo cars.. They do tend to appeal to people who like glitter and stuff though (no slur, just observation). Risking
I have a "real" mandrel bender with alloy mandrels and bend up cooler piping up to 3.5 inchs regularly. it would seriously cost 200 bucks in materials to bend up a nicer set of pipes to suit a GTR plus the silicon joiners and a couple of hours labour. I can't see how they justify that kinda money for a piping kit that's mass produced. bigmikespec
They justify it because not everyone has a mandrel bender, the skills, the time, the patience, the Mabo, the vibe...... I would rather spend $2k buying a bender and learning how to do it rather than pay for a Nismo pipe kit; then develop patience, Mabo, vibe... etc Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/333312-bnr32-track-build/page/19/#findComment-5508491 Share on other sites

R31Nismoid
He does make a very good point...... hehe, and he didn't tell us what he has decided overall unless I'm mistaken. Although - to the defence here, it might have been posted somewhere in the 11ty pages of this thread? Suspension, rim size, tyre size, spring rates - the works needs to be known. Hence i still reckon visiting the local track on a "GTR" frequented day, go from there Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/333312-bnr32-track-build/page/19/#findComment-5509353 Share on other sites

Hence i still reckon visiting the local track on a "GTR" frequented day, go from there fair enough 17inch rims with Advan AD08 255/40/R17 Spring rate not 100% sure need to double check and try to cal the spring rate or get off my ass and order some 8/6 springs (or was it 8/7 cant remember now....) Reason i ask because when i got my tein RS it came with the instruction and tein had what they stated as the best ride height for the coilovers and gts-t Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/333312-bnr32-track-build/page/19/#findComment-5509364 Share on other sites
