You will be happy with the D-jetro mate.

I jumped from a well tuned D-jetro on to the Vipec band wagon when it had a lot of steam/hype and I had to deal with a lot of BS.

It has to be one of the biggest mistake and pain in my car modifying hobby. Before anyone jumped into conclusion, it was done at an authorised Vipec dealer in QLD.

I am sure Vipec has improved a lot since then but I would not wish that experience on my worst enemy. I now have an Autronic SM4 on my street r32 and Motec on my track r32.

What about an F CON V ?

Initially I was sold on getting a Vi-Pec after realising that the cost difference between buying a D-jetro + Z32's was a bee's dick but now I'm not so sure.

L-jetro you mean, D-jetro is MAP based, not AFM.

F-Con is so restrictive in terms of who can tune them it's a very limiting choice for Aus people.

Yeah sorry, I ment L-Jetro and I understand about the tuneability issue but aside from that what do people think, because the place Ill be getting it tuned is the official HKS dealer here in QLD so it's not so much of a problem.

aside from lack of aus support the fcon-v pro are quote good. make sure you know what you are buying though as you said f-con V which is rubbish. you want f-con V PRO.

fcon v pro was on my list however there is only one place in perth that can tune it and i have never used them before so don't really want to swap my tuner now which is a real shame as its an awesome bit of kit :wacko:

Nismo, Mines or Tomei

Nismo and mines are the split design and both similar price.

Tomei is a single new design

Mines is 80mm

Tomie 68mm

Nismo i am unsure need to look into it.

Front Pipe will be a 70x2 -> 80mm design so i have lots of options mines, hks etc

mines doesn't have the flex pipe so i may go for the hks design.

Cat-Back so far im looking at nismo, mines or REIMAX. will most likly go for the reimax as the price isn't back and is 80mm

Wish Beer Baron would sell me his old design tomie! damn you!

Use some dumps of a 33 or 34 GTR, will never crack and easily good enough for what the GT-SS turbos will make.

That ARC exhaust is Porn!!

After reading about 50+ pages of topics i see alot of people like the std r34 dumps however i through i might aswell upgrade to something Bigger while the turbo are out as i can't see myself doing it once i put them back in lol

Well if you want more powr you will need bigger turbos etc, so instead of spending a grand when you dont need to now do it if you ever want 450rwks

That is true but the way i look at it is the Goal of my built is a responsive track car.

There may be only a 5-10% gain from going to the aftermarket dumps if that however if i only gave 50-100rpm gain in responds i will be happy, i would like to match everything so i can get as near perfect as i can, i look at other track spec gtr for example the mines gtr and see that they are running 600hp and use their dumps so i look at it like there must be a gain somewhere for them to use their dumps over stock.

That ARC exhaust is Porn!!

sure is not sure how hard it will be mod it to swap the r32 must do some more research and see if it is worth the cash, however its way under $1000 atm which is damn cheap for an ARC exhaust

If there are circuit cars down here, running R34 dumps, making 380rwkw+ and constantly breaking their records by focusing on the important stuff like driving... I'm fairly sure they aren't a problem.

Doubt there is 5-10% (15-30rwkw) in dumps... Everyone would be taking them off if that was the case :wacko:

I mean look, it's all good and well to spend money... But for those turbos you are getting a bit too excited.

You aren't making 600hp, have a close ratio gearbox, nor are you "MINES" where it makes obvious business sense to fill your car with MINES products now doesn't it? :D

Don't get caught up in the marketing/mass spending cause it has a 'label' - talk to people that are actually doing it and getting the results.

As we are working our inconel dumps for the R35 but if the demand is there to make R32 inconel dump pipes at 80mm we will do it.

Your budget track GTR already has $1000 woth of dump pipe. $1000 worth of front pipe and $1000 worth of cat and cat back exhaust. Sounds like a $6000 turbo upgrade is going in!

How much did you spend on the car? See this is why i dont mess with GTRs! Good intentiones get so out of control. You are better of buying the top dollar 35k R32 rather then buidling one up....or just be content to overfill the sump, dont rev it over 7,5000rpm and just get out there and pump out lap after lap, If you improve your PB by 0.3sec then youhave had a great day!

But....that said....some cool things you are getting for the bus....be interesting how hard it is to get it quicker then your GTS25t

I don't mean to be rude but seriously you are jerking yourself with brand name shit that you don't need and you'll still be slow as hell unless you learn to drive.

You don't need half the shit your catalouge shopping for just for the sake of people drooling over your parts.

Have a look at any serious "track car" that has points on the board so to speak, instead of the track queen cars that are being built left right and center. The ex BSM ipra car is the perfect example. There is no fancy arc exhaust, or other crap just a solid base that works.

My old car had a duel mild steel set of side pipes, nothing fancy but it worked and was quick enough to win races.

The only guys who seem to have thr right mentality are the quick s13 silvias doing the rounds simple and effective as opposed to parts whores which never cut the laps they should!

all valid points :D but i think roy has hit the nail on the head.

I did the same thing with my gts-t, spend $1000+ doing the gtr plenum swap, was pretty much shot down by everyone saying it wasn't worth the time or money and all points were valid but in the end i love the results i got from it and it was unique and suit me.

Risking, i agree aero is unnecessary but i through it might be good to use my gtr to experiment on using what im learning at uni, and possible for my 4th year project next year.

My goal is sub 55sec on the short track with 500-600hp (@ the engine) with a responsive car and not a crazy build engine.

And don't worry it may seem like im not listing but everyone input is helping me improve this build and i just like to say a big thankyou ;)

LOL, dont mean to be negative in your thread, and what is already a neat GTR..... but in my opinion give up on this penchant for response :D If you want response go big cc NA. People spend all this money on response, then only to find that the things pitch like bastards in corners when you pick up the throttle or have more lift off oversteer when you need to get back off the loud pedal. There is sensible power delivery, then there is the 4-10k people spend on building something that has 15kws more at 4,000rpm and spools harder...which like i said in a corner just means you are making the frond end lighter sooner as you get more dramatic weight transfer etc etc.

Can understand this if you are on slicks in a racing category. Where corner exit is critical to get right to give you a chance of getting past someone. But you are driving around on a circuit racing your last lap time. And it doesnt sound like you are doing this all by your own hand in the middle of the night with your shed full of tools ie ylwgtr2 or Risking

Dont get me wrong, its your car and you have to love what it is. Nobody understands that better then me with my car ;) But you said this was a budget GTR , remember what happened to your last track car! Track cars can die a quick death for the silliest of reasons. If its a road car with occassional light track work then ok. Byt using it as a development bed for uni thesis and aero etc etc. Its ot going to be a road car seeing a bit of track work

save all that cash for the rebuild :D Or spend it on decent things to make it reliable rather than pushing it harder and it break even quicker. Go down to a race meet at Barbs and see what parts they are running, very limited amounts, if any of the brand name stuff from Japan. Reading HPI magazines and going to AHG skidpan days gives people the wrong idea on what you need and dont need to make a car quick. Barbs is a pretty big open track too and once the motor goes bang and gets rebuilt your going to wish you had the bigger 2860 -5s.

    • Unlikely, as per Greg's post. This is not helical diff behaviour unless one wheel is up off the ground. Shimming what? You don't "shim" a mechanical LSD. Probably not in the sense that you have heard of people "shimming" a diff. And the process that Nissan f**kwits call "shimming" a diff involves super-preloading a VLSD cartridge against the side of the diff to create a friction/wear point (in a place that it wasn't supposed to have one) to make the sloppy, useless, viscous diff into a hybrid viscous/mech abortion. In case it isn't clear, I consider the process to be stupid. Nike.
    • How much does the shifter move when the car is in gear with the engine off? If it is more than about 1cm you need to replace your shifter bush. Your shifts will just get crunchier, not faster, with a short shifter unless you also rebuild the whole box
    • I should video mine, will prob do it tomorrow    Between 1st and 3rd, you could fit another two gears. That is how loose and wobbly it is   horrible:(
    • Throws on the FS5R30A in most Nissans of this era are actually quite short and direct compared to any remotely modern BMW with the S6-53 transmission. Those things have throws a mile long with rubbery vague everything. Synchro issues combined with a short shifter is just going to break everything even faster.
    • Only thing I'd add...is on recommendation from a good diff shop, I've used mineral oil in my diff including the race car for years. The synthetics can be too slippery and glaze the gears
