I'm cruising into brisy tonight after work and am staying at a mates just south of slacks creek. If a group of skylines are gonna hook up before the cruise-for-cure then I'd love to add an r32 to the group. My moby is 0419 170 574.

Cheers,

Blake

choas, got your pm - I'll let you know later tonight (in a couple of hours, when my mate arrives), but it's looking good at this stage, woohoo

Zoix, not having much luck eh? I know a really good mobile auto electrician on the Northside if you're interested.

revhead, its the blower fan and I know that, but its a **** to rip the dash apart to get in there. its either a small motor, a fuse or the fan is ****ed. Then again a cable could have come undone. The air cond works and doesnt need regasesing, its just the fan thats stopped.

Does this "Guy" u know, worked on skylines in the past?

What time will I be able to get them to look at my car?

does he have a shop or just mobile?

I got my door fixed and my timer  so at least I can have the windows down again.

Zoix - his name's Chris Rogers, he posts on here from time to time and is a regular on Performance Forums. He runs a mobile business called "Sound Off Mobile Installations", and he's based at Wavell Heights. He's done plenty of work on my R33 and a mate's R32, has no doubt done plenty of other guys' cars that I don't know, and used to work at Strathfield before branching out on his own, so yes, he's done BUCKETLOADS of Skylines, along with Porkas and other exotica  He's on 0407 102 839 - tell him I (Marc) sent you and he'll look after you. Dunno what his schedule's like, call him and see if he can squeeze you in. I've gotta speak to him sometime over the weekend anyway to help organise his wedding, I'll mention it to him then.

chaos - shit I hadn't realised it was tomorrow either. Ah well, should still be there :D PM me your mobile number or and/or address and I'll contact you tomorrow.

Note though - I unfortunately have things to do in the afternoon, so I'll be going as far as Somerset and then heading back, ie won't be doing the Kilcoy/Samford etc leg.

haha wonder how many people didnt realise it was tomorrow.

i'll pm you my number but i think im goin with zoix not sure yet cause hes just gone out cruising but if your not planning on goin to bed soon i'll sms u later tonight or tomorrow morning before the time we meant to meet whatever time that is.

paddington so thats like west/south lol inner west it is

im confuzzled bout tomorrow now cause i thought zoix was talking bout this cruise tomorrow but it seems hes on about a sunday one. but yeh im going with who ever can pick me up and drop me off  cause my line is still a few months off now

Only two of us ended up going - myself (duh) and blakey. Mud also made an appearance at Harry's, so he's excused too. So the whole time there were two cars flying the SAU flag amid a sea of Commodores. One of the guys wearing an LS1 shirt came over and said to Chaos (who was in my passenger seat) 'most of the Commodores have spare seats, so if you want a ride in a V8 instead of a ricer for a change, just ask em'. The cheeky bastard, lol :D

I did get one good comment going up the mountain though, from a guy in an SS - 'Geez mate, I just couldn't keep up with you back there!'. Chaos can no doubt bear witness to how 'hard' I was trying... looks like 250+kW just isn't enough to help nearly two tonnes of metal up the hill and around the corners :) But seriously the Commies did pretty well considering that most looked nearly stock, and there were some very nice examples.

The only pics I have are of someone who went for a steep downhill excursion - and I won't be posting those unless I get the owner's OK. Blakey's passengers got a few good shots of the rest of the day I think, maybe wait until he gets on here and see what shows up. Either that, or look on the LS1 forums.

All in all it was quite a good day, the Leukemia Foundation reps no doubt raised more than a few dollars in the process, and there was a bit of friendly ribbing between us and the Holden guys to keep things interesting... and, as you can probably tell, I'm still in the mood :D

good to haer, i jsut went and got cough syrup and some pills the lady said i should take soon, so as soon as I paid i drink from the bottle and took two tablets, she looked so amazed :D

I said "Hmm Much better, thanks!" and walked out to everyone giving me strange looks. Was going to buy a washing machine but I think tyres are needed before that.

Anyone know a great set of tyres for 18"? I'm looking towards hard compound as they last longer and dont smoke up :)

    • @soviet_merlin Thanks mate!  Nothing too major but will hold me up for a while. I've got lymphomas to get taken off the back of my neck and the middle of my spine which always conjures scary thoughts!  It sounds worse than it is. Yeah great, conjuring more rabbit hole deepening , just what I need! 🤣
    • I'd argue the F50 kit I got is very good value. For ~2k I got the calipers (refurbed condition), adapters, pads, brake lines, rotors, and top hats. I think you'd be pretty hard to get Evo/GTR/350z brembos + the additional hardware for similar money. Used market for a pair of front calipers alone I've seen tend to run anywhere from $1500-2000 depending on condition.    That said, something like a GTR or 350z brembo is a lot easier to adapt to the Silvia.
    • Is there a significant price difference between the Evo/gtr/350z brembos vs the F50? Looks amazing.
    • I was actually being a tightarse at the time LOL... My OCD is tickling me into running a 2nd 8AN Teflon hose all the way down and removing the 2x OEM hardlines. My other side of my brain is telling me to run 2x hardlines front to back (also acts as a fuel cooler, so win win).
    • As I mentioned in an earlier post, I had some trouble with the Silvia's brakes dragging back in 2023. I managed to sort it out then, but the same problem came back to bite me late last year. Just take a look at the picture – I had a feeling the handbrake was acting up again, and I was right. Anyway, I'd been wanting to upgrade to bigger brakes for a while. Not that the Silvia's brakes were bad, but it was more of a "want" than a "need", you know? It was funny, though – at the time, I couldn't find any Evo Brembos, 350Z Brembos, or GTR Brembos for a decent price (of course, tons of them popped up online after I already bought my kit!). I ended up going with an F50 Brembo kit, which came with adapters, brake lines, 330mm rotors, and top hats. The F50 Brembo caliper was used in a few other cars too, like the FPV. I also decided this was the perfect opportunity to ditch the Silvia's ridiculous rear brakes and that awful handbrake (some of you were definitely right about that!). I picked up some R33 calipers and all the necessary bits – rear drums, backing plates, and new hardware to refurbish the calipers. Of course, it wouldn't be a project without a few hiccups. Turns out the brake master cylinder was playing up and basically (to put it simply) keeping the brakes engaged. I had it overhauled, and after some adjustments, everything was working again. The whole process took a while, as you can imagine. To top it off, the front right wheel bearings were shot and needed replacing too. This is a rare occasion where I'm posting an update while it's all still fresh! These pictures were taken just this afternoon.
