Sorry to hijack,

Why not make it the Sunday? The forcast is 17 and sunny.

Plus off memory they open the race course centre circle for parking. That area gets very boggy.

Heaps of cars where getting stuck a couple of year ago when it rained at the Melbourne show.

are we still headin in if its raining, or are they displayin all the cars in that big building they got there...does anyone know?
good question

just looked at the map on the autosalon website looks like theres a building there, did a zoom in on google maps and there was a building where they had shaded in the autosalon stand on there site

There should be undergound / cover parking at showgrounds..?

yeah wasnt too much worried bout parking just if bits of the display were outside wount want to get wet, but i think i cleared it up by lookin on there site should be in that building, dunno if anyone went to motorvate earlier on in the year but looks like autosalon are gonna use the same building

we have had this planed for a while now dont think we would be changing days, some ppl have had to change shifts etc to get to this meet.. sorry buddy

yeah fair point

but i did go on autosalon website just before they must have updated there event page with a map cos haven't seen it there last i looked

but where they had shaded on map "display area for autosalon" i checked nearby streets n mapped it on Google maps and zoomed in on satellite mode and it showed a building there

so i think we should be good long as we get close parking which cant be too hard cos were leaving first thing

we spoke about it at the previous apple peel meet and the majority agreed to saturday.i hope ur memory is wrong :S dont wanna be parking in shit

true that not parking our skylines in shit lol

i think there's either a Coles or a Safeway withing 2-3hundred meters of the place they displaying cars

guess well just suss it out on sat where we park

i dont think auto salon will be as good as it used to be (no sau vic stand) and you would think they would have wanted some car representation for a skyline club as thats what helps get the people in ....if i have time i will go have a look...only interested in the dyno challenges as i have seen more than enough cars moving into the exhibition center for that show

Can't make it as I havent fully recovered yet from surgery. Taking longer than I thought :)

This prevents me from driving

hey man what happend you ok?

had a good day...wasnt as good as i expected..althought the chix were amazing! will post up some pix later...the 180sx that pulled 500kw on the dyno was amazing

all in all it was a ok but could have done with some more cars..and better cars.. i mean there was a holden commodore with a huge spoiler and completely stock that enterd..

no surpises that it wasnt up to standard again this year...... slap on a few cosmetics and paint and you got autosalon material, oh and dont forget the dyno queens

glad i didnt go, knew it wouldve been a waste of $30

    • Do you plan on using 98 or e85?
    • This should be pretty easy. 200rwkW is just about the max power out of an RB25 stock turbo. So, 12ish psi on a 2.5L. That boost limited mainly by the prospect of seeing the turbine in the cat after the smoke show. A steel wheeled equivalent would likely happily do ~220rwkW at something like 17 psi, where it would probably be bumping into the usual limits of such a sized turbo. These things have like a .48 rear. You will not need the 0.86 rear. The 0.64 will be fine. In fact, if you were looking at various mid-200rwkW options for RBs, most of them would be in a 0.64 rear. So, I think you will definitely want to be no bigger than that for a same sized but probably even more efficient (at making power) modern engine.
    • Change the subframe bushes, transforms the car.
    • For something a little more serious, Davinci Resolve is about the best there is for free video editors. No expiration dates or watermarks, completely free.
    • Well, it's taken me until the last week of 2024 to actually do something on the Skyline but I consider it a good head start to 2025's efforts! I managed to justify (to myself anyway...) my purchase of the lift table. It made taking the rear subframe out a lot easier than it would have been without anyway! Everything is out and stripped down ready for a clean then powdercoating.  She's pretty grubby under there but pretty good condition for a 38 year old Japanese tin bucket. 12 years of zero street time have obviously helped that... I need to decide which of the factory suspension arms I will keep and replace so I only get what I'm keeping powdercoated.  Baby steps but it's a start!
