Ok, I know I've been slack, but between work and the car there hasn't been enough time to scratch myself let alone keep this thread updated. Anyway, enough of the excuses, time for an update.

SUMMARY OF PROGRESS

Car Re-tuned at Xspeed - 500rwhp at 18psi (ran out of injectors, so plenty more in it when I upgrade to 1000cc's)

E85 Fuel System Installed - parts from Australian Racing Technologies and Aftermarket Industries

Brakes Fitted - AP 355mm 6pot Fronts, and new rear pads

Rear Wing Fitted - R33 GTR Wing, as I'm not allowed to run anything bigger :(

Battery Fitted - Braile lightweight and enough grunt to start the car

Door Trims and Rear Fire Wall constructed - aluminium sheet and a grinder, I'm not sheetmetal worker, but it looks ok

Rear Guards Flares - AutoFX flares the guards for the new TE37s fit

Sparco Navigator Footrest - installed mainly to protect the ECU from getting kicked

Window Net and Tow Hooks fitted

The upshot is the car is almost ready for scruitineering, although it may need a few minor fixes, I'm hoping it isn't too much. The first shakedown test should be in a couple weeks, once Wanneroo Track re-opens (undergoing major in-field works)

Enjoy the pics, ask any questions you want and I'll try and answer them

FLAME PROOF

It's only a couple weeks till I take this to get Scruitineered for my Logbook, so I'm trying to do all the little bits which I'll need to pass. So I've spent a fair bit of time doing the front and rear firewalls to make them completely sealed. I used 3mm aluminum sheet where possible, and then fire retardent foam filler for all the small gaps (yes it's pink :whistling: ). Other bits and pieces include mounting the 2 1kg fire extinguishers and the padding around the rollcgae bars.

Enjoy the pics

Awesome read mate, it's been a while since you started, I bet you're having a ball knowing your getting much closer. Keep it up mate.

Yeah, it's starting to get real. Filling in my CAMS license for a Provisional Circuit license, and only a month of so from my first competitive race

FINISHING TOUCHES

So my car had it's Logbook signed off on Friday, which means I'm not too far off getting the car signed off for racing. I also submitted my Provisional Clubman Circuit license, completed the online test, and did my Observed License Test on Monday, so should have my competion license soon :worship:

The car had its first shakedown at a Motorkhana event on the Sunday, and then on the Monday I was at the racetrack. All seemed to be going pretty well, other than the front guards rubbing, but then the brakes seemed to have developed a massive vibration, enough to shake the entire car, so it kinda stuffed up my day at the track a bit. Still the engine and everything else performed really well, so in general I'm happy.

I've since investigated the vibration, and I think it may actually be a stuffed wheel bearing, so looking at fixing them soon.

Due to the weather looking a bit dodge on the weekend, I finally got my ass into gear and fitted the perspex windows. I think they look awesome :D

The evo is setup for WTAC, so isn't competing in my category, hence the reason it has so much aero

    • So, how do you feel about the Frenchys surge tank setup @Duncan? Have you had a chance to try it out more? The sketchy wiring in my fuel pump setup has decided to melt and die and I'm looking for a solid replacement now. My fuel hat is toast so the Frenchys kits providing it all look promising.
    • Yeh... literally every time i jump on a forum, see an instagram post or see an engine bay at a car show, i get an idea and add it to my 'to do' list. So what started off as, hey can u just make a couple of intake hard pipes because my dumbass bought the wrong apexi kit, blew out into a 2 week job including braided brake lines & custom bash kit for the front lip haha.  Getting Luke from A4E engineering to make a full custom exhaust with a controllable aes dump valve so i can actually switch between quiet and loud, because right now its just loud all day every day. Then after that go and get the tune redone flex e85 & 98 as i get bugger all milage from e85, makes going for longer drivers difficult
    • Car looks clean as. You ended up getting quite a bit done 馃槀  So what's the plan for the exhaust?
    • The only Neo rods that were any different to any other RB25 rods were the DET ones, and they were the same as RB26. Here is a Neo DET rod. O5U part number visible. Here is a post in a thread here on SAU with evidence from someone who has done this before. There are photos in the thread of normal RB25 rods.
    • Sure, but why assume that will be the case forever? And why assume you'll be able to do an oil change to swap back to a stock drain bolt before that happens? And does it even matter when I change the oil at fairly short intervals? Life can be funny sometimes and unexpected things can happen. Like breaking a collarbone so you can't do any work on your car for a few months but the oil change is due so you have to take it to somewhere and hope they don't do something stupid like stacking the new drain plug washer on top of the old one.
