New Cat Converter Fitted

Hey guys I have been driving skylines all my life and started off with an R31 and currently own a R33 which was stock but have since modified it with a new exhaust.

I recently was told by friends about X-plode Performance who sell performance exhaust parts and that they are really high quality being 100 CPSI and they were gaining anywhere from 5-12rwkw depending on other modifications done to the car of course.

So I gave them a try and they were more than helpful when dealing with them. Vince who I spoke with has been in the exhaust business for over 20 years and explained everything on how they worked and what they were made out of etc.

I ended up fitting a 3" 100cell X-plode high flow cat and ran it on the dyno before it was fitted and after and to my amazement I gained 8rwkw which I thought was pretty good.

Just wondering if anyone else has fitted these cats to their car before?

I definately recommend them as it was only $160 and I was being quoted $270+ for a high flow cat.

You'll only gain power if your current exhaust is restrictive.

So running a factory CAT, replacing with a larger one, easy to see there would be some sort of gain. Nothing new there.

End of the day, once you chase more power, run more boost/make more airflow you might find that cheaper CAT becomes a restriction once again.

Ideally you want a 3.5" or bigger metal CAT for most applications, these will flow good enough for most 250rwkw setups and last longer than typical ceramic CAT's.

$270+ for a 3" CAT is interesting, not sure where you get your quotes from as im fairly certain CATCO & similar are not that expensive (and everyone uses those)

Well compared to the stock cat it looks a million times better and it is stainless steel and metal substrate.

I am happy with it anyway.

Yeah I think they are definitely worth changing on most cars.
