Pull cage and all out.

Sorry - assuming its the same as my Stagea where to get the ecu out you unbolt the cradle that holds it even though it looks as though it would slide out of the cradle. Maybe you should post up a pic ?

I think the later R34s (maybe Aug 2000-->) had this security cradle thing. It seems to be specifically designed to stop you removing the ECU.

Starion4me - If you have got a late R34, I remember that when we did get the ECU out, it messed up the built-in Nissan security/immobiliser thing too. Even plugging the stock ECU back in didn't clear it, so we had to short cut the ignition system in the end. Just a word of warning...it may not be the case for yours

ouch - yeah mine is one of the last aug - 2002.....i think i will wait till i get my power fc then....i hope when the time comes i dont have any issues

thanks for the advice DJ Davey G

Hey,

The actual immobilzer for the NATS system the JDM BNR34's are equipped with is inside the factory ecu, that's why they don't want you removing it. If you replace the ECU with something like a VIPEC you'll find you no longer need the coded key to be able to start your engine. The BNR34 Power FC supports the NATS system though, but doesn't need to be recoded to work with the NATS box, like the stock ECU does (if you replace it with another stock ecu it still won't work till you take it to a Nissan dealership and get it recoded).

On another note, you say you want a BNR34 Power FC.. I have one sitting right here out of my car with handunit I'm willing to let go relatively cheaply =)

Cheers,

Markus
