hey guys and gals

i am changing over all my studs and replacing the ex manifold gaskets on my rb20.

first thing i am wondering the gasket kit that i got its got both the whole 6 all the together gasket one and also the 6 individal gaskets, which one is better to use???

i am replacing all the studs also since i already had a few broken ones so might as well replace them all. is there anything else i could be doing when fitting up the new ones?

well since i had a few broken studs i am missing a few nuts and washers can i just go to my local hardware store and get like stainless steel nuts and washers??

last thing. the tensions, when i was taking all the turbo, dump, ex manifold i did spray wd40 on all the nuts before taking them off and all, just when i went to take them off there wasnt much effort in taking them off at all, like i didnt have to even crack loose a nut, it was just a lil too easy, soooooo how tight do i really have to do themm upp

thanks

dont use a rattle gun, most of that stuff doesnt need to be as tight as you'd think. just nip it up fairly tight with a normal sized ratchet.

nissan want too much for exhaust manifold nuts so i got some from a fixings shop in wangara, cost about $5 for a full set. just take a stud in and get some high tensile nuts in the right thread

little off topic but if you have a spare exhaust manifold gasket i'll buy it off you

Rattle gun won't fit down there easy...infact depending on the manifold, sometimes even a ratchet isnt the go. Need to use uni joint, or a spanner.

As for studs and gaskets. Use Nissan items, they're more expensive, but they're of alot better quality than the other shit.

obviously dont use a rattle gun need ring/open ended spanners 14-15mm depending what nuts you use and socket set with either 14mm or 15mm sockets

i do mine pretty tightish obviously the areas that you cant get a socket to just tight it up as much as you can with the spanner as your restricted for torque and personel preferance i use loctite

can get high tensile nuts from bunnings or just go auto one

yeah nice one there andrew haha. i dont need to know sizes here i have already taken everything off. so do them up pretty tight, guess i would also need to get washers tooo with the high tensile nuts???
