"The Victorian government on Monday announced that householders in the capital would be able to hand-water gardens at any time and wash cars at home when water restrictions are eased to stage 2 for the first time in four years......

.....The restrictions will be eased from level 3a to level 2 from September 1 following heavy rains and water storage levels rising to almost 40 per cent, their highest level in almost three years."

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaw yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah.

Nothing like an election coming up to get the sweeteners going, ah well, dumb bogans will still vote for them.

And WTF are they doing. 39.9% is not full, so it is rather irresponsible to lighten restrictions going into spring/summer...

Gah! Why would they ease water restrictions when we are still under 50%? Keeping them strict isn't too hard and it's helping fill the dams. If we go back to dry now then it's just going to damage the supply even more >_< The drought isn't over yet, no offence but I think the water would be more useful going on our crops and flora/fauna, rather than on our cars. Other than that hooray for more water, haven't seen this much at my fams property in over 10 years :D

those car washes are soo annoying first sign off sun and its an 11bty mile line, plus my car only gets in/out by about 1mm not very low friendly

plus the minute u get jibbed waiting for it to go from soap to rinse and vice versa dodgy kents

Agreed. 100%

I love washing my car but this is so stupid. Haven't they learnt anything from the droughts? What's wrong with continuing to save our water until we're atleast above 50%?! We've survived this long without watering shit and using grey water for the cars. The farmers would be pissed, and rightfully so.

i 2nd that

if we start washing cars etc from home, water use will go up and we are approaching summer so not such a good idea to lower the restrictions n like said were not above 50% yet

so keep saving the water guys

They are citing the new north-south pipeline and the F*****N extremely environmentally unfriendly desalination plant as the driving forces to allow the easing of restrictions.

As for me, I wash my car with a hose, water my garden, and water my lawn whenever I want - from my rainwater tank.

    • Excuse me for butting in....but which part of ADHD can be considered a superpower? I would have though it far more likely that some ASD comorbidity is more likely to be contributing to an ability to hyperfocus on something. ADHD being aimed somewhat in the other direction. My shed looks like your shed. My whiteboard list of unfinished projects has entries going back 15 years. I know what you're talking about - I just struggle to connect ADHD to the results being discussed.
    • Thanks for reaching out!  It's a blessing and a curse at the same time.  I'm undiagnosed but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see it in me... I have more half started projects laying around my house, shed, garden, etc taking up space and money, destroying aesthetics than if I added up all of my mates projects together. But, ADHD gives me the ability to hyper focus on things that no mere mortal could even  comprehend.  A recent pool build is an example of that....  I dont know anyone else that would be dumb enough and focused enough to take on then complete something of that magnitude. I call ADHD a superpower but it can equally be completely destructive if not controlled and focusedon the right places. Addiction is a major concern to ADHD people and thankfully my addictions have been no worse than projects, XBOX, chocolate and being an arsehole! It's often hereditary and my 13 year old son is currently learning how to drive it at the moment. Keep lurking! If i can finally finish this bloody thing at some point it will be a win for all of us ADHD'ers! 🤪
    • I've been quietly following this thread for ages, but this one got me. Since my ADHD diagnosis (and associated learnings and prescription) I'm way less inclined to wade into forum yarns when there are better things to do with my time, as half the time I'd end up in some kind of forum debate even if that wasn't my intention. I've not lost the ADHD "superpowers", just am a lot better at directing my hyperfocus into slightly more constructive things, but haven't stopped quietly lurking in here in my spare time.
    • Stripped the tank down and gave it a good scrub. It came up really good! Not sure if I'll just put it back in like that or give it a blackening treatment (such as Bowdens The Black Box). That might give it a matte look so might just run it as is.
    • @MBS206 Ha ha, yeah ADHD is a daily battle to not get drawn in to doing things you want to do that you know you shouldn't do!  Every single time I walk into my shed I end up doing something I started the day having zero intention of doing! I keep mentioning the 1 step forward, 3 steps back scenario and I'm tipping people that are blessed with ADHD (yes, blessed) are the worst at that!
