a toss up b/n 2 loves..hurrrr

Recommended Posts

yo guys,

i'm torn between the S15 or 34GTT... the 34 is much more powerful... bt how is the handling? very difficult for me to get a test drive of both these vehicles... all i know is they look SWEET and i think are a great base for mods.. all i want is a car that looks good  .... has great response and handles quick.. hehe.. don't we all.. but yeah... can't choose between these 2..

not looking to go above 300hp rite now...so i think mod costs should be around the same..yeah? just wondering if anyone's driven both and can give me a real-world comparison..

ok then .. :D

later

damn i love both of 'em....! and i barely know 'em! hehheh

Personally, I'd definitely go the R34 25GT-T. Amazing looking car. In black or white, take your pick. The R34 is larger, and has a slightly more roomy interior.

Stacks of mods for both cars, so that's not a problem.

I can't say too much handling wise, but both cars could be made to handle well with basic suspension upgrades (Whiteline's handling kit/sports pack/works).

i have driven both and own an r34 gtt. though i was never really torn between an s15 and an er34. i think they are two totally different cars. i was torn more between an r32 gtr and r34 gtt because a year and abit ago they were both similar money....

an s15, as much as it pains me to say it, is the real sports car. its light and its fast. the skyline is more of a gt sports car. ie. its heavier, its bigger but it can perform.

i wouldnt say the s15 is less powerful at all. i know alot of sr20's producing BIG hp. they respond very well to mods and they are reliable.

looks is personal.

my reasoning for the er34 was its larger interior, its originality and its practicality. i can fit my mountain bike in the back seat for instance ;) an er34 will perform well, but i don't think it'd be quicker around a track with similar levels of modifications on an s15 because its just too heavy. but, with the extra bulk, i think it has a slightly better build to it.

in any case, i think if your after a true sports car with lesser practicality then get the s15. they respond great to mods, look good and go hard.

if you want abit more practicality and can sacrifice abit of performance, then go for the GTT. it to responds well to mods but i think you'll hit a limit with your injectors. the biggest bolt on injectors i've seen for the GTT are nismo 480's. hence you could potentially be limited to the power you can make from the 2.6 NEO...

hth.

As different as they are, I was tossing up between the two as well. I was comparing the S15 new though. I have to say the interior did it for me. The S15 just seems so plasticky and cheap by comparison. Also the practicality as mentioned above.

Hey maybe the S15 is quicker... I couldn't give a **** cos my GTT goes ****ing fast and as long as I'm in the ballpark I don't care.

Speed is rarely the deciding factor, it's what puts a car in your sights.

That said I think rexies are damn ugly ;) so I can only think that speed is what attracts people to them.

the 34 will retain more of its value.  look at what a 10 year old skyline cost up aginst a 10 year old Silvia.................better resale value ;)

A few points to remember:

1. s13 Silvias are not locally delivered like the s15, which is why they are so cheap in comparison.

2. Import laws are changing constantly and in a few years I doubt you'll be able to import r34 gtt's or s15s for cheap.

GTT all the way.......

i LOVE the s15, it looks dead hot...but if you toss it up betweeen a silvia and a skyline..then the obvious choice is the skyline =)

+ r34 is more rare in australia compared to s15's!

but den again if u ask the same qnz on an s15 forum den ur answers would be quite differ

but yeah def the gtt

yeah...just thought i should i add the silvia's like love at 1st sight... bt never been for a drive in one... been in a mate's 34GTT and man... they sound f*cken HORN ! the suuuuck of air thru the turbo and the accompanying psssssHHHHHH.... mAD... and it feels darned fast too!! altho he was saying 'its not that fast.... only on low boost'... guess i been in the civic too damn long.. hehehe

anyways... if its practicality i was after i might as well stay with the civic. as long as i feel like taking my baby out anytime just for the heck of it.... thats the car i'd own... and it seems like i can't go wrong with both... maybe sum test drives are in order i believe..

anyways, thanks for all your feedback guys. ta =)

can't agree more!

R34 is better looking car but

i will say a S15, as everybody want faster after u got a car like that. It's cheaper to go fast.

kenny: no its not Impul dude. my car has - bomex side skirts, phoenix rear pods, top secret copy front bar, original rear wing with nismo base stands...

the practicality of a civic is a given, but that wasn't my point. i thought you had opted for a sports car so i was just outlining some of the differences between the two...

    • They should do. I have S14 (or something S chassis, anyway) driveshafts in my R32 (because my diff flanges have 3x2). They're the right length. When you go looking for R32/3/4 driveshafts (for turbos), they're all the same thing, so are the same length. So there really shouldn't be any reason why those cheapies from JJ won't also fit an R34. R32/3 NA should also be the same thing. The (3x the price) D-Max ones are uni-fit. They have 5x1 and 3x2 bolt holes and say they cover all the cars. So that would also suggest that they are all the same except for the flanges. And in that case, the flange goes both ways. I'd be buying the D-Max ones if I ever have to replace a shaft. Because that will open up diff options without needing to juggle shafts also. Juggling shafts is gay.
    • Yeah with the adaptors they do look like the photo above - just the fitment within the plenum itself and then further with the rail to the intake is questionable - we shall see tomorrow hopefully once I get some replies from Aeroflow, maybe those bosses are the missing piece....
    • Should be fine, if you have it sitting too far in, you end up just spraying the walls and have shit idle. You "can" run them like that, however I don't think it's a great idea (also depends on your plenum, might be good to just get the injector bosses first, mock it up and see if you need to get the bottom extension) Ideally your injectors, with the extension should look like this  (Not my photos, just Google)
    • Thanks for the replies guys, it's really appreciated.  It seems the kit was supposed to come with those injector bosses but hasn't. Unsure if they'll help as even with the adaptors to make them a 3/4 height injector they still sit too far out so mount the fuel rail?
    • Hello, I am looking to replace my two rear drive shafts in my R34 N/A Skyline but I'm finding conflicting information. Do S13/S14/S15 or R32 NA/ R33 NA fit? https://justjap.com/products/gsp-premium-rear-drive-shaft-l-h-nissan-silvia-s13-s14-s15-3x2-type?currency=AUD&srsltid=AfmBOoqY7EwDaYCUoUU3mxxZ_qrUXkVVHiV4MIN7ozoar6scjnEiekv- would this fit?
