i have discovered a rusty crack about 12-14 inches long above my rear muffler, im undecided as to whether i should tell my insurance or contact someone else to get it fixed or just forget its there. has anyone else has a similar issue? what did you do?

ive owned the car for 2 years and im pretty sure it would have been there when it came to australia.

thanks in advance

The last thing I would do is tell your insurer, they will likely cancel your cover immediately. There is a clause in all car policies regarding "unrepaired damage" and something like what you are describing would definitely qualify. Insurance companies are not your friend; they are a business that likes making the largest amount of money with the least amount of effort. Do not give them an opportunity to cancel your policy for having an "unroadworthy vehicle".You wouldn't ring the RTA if your car started blowing heaps of smoke, you'd get it fixed.

Take your car to a good panel shop, get a quote, get it fixed. No crack in the floor of your car is a good one, unless you're a dealer.

hah ha i was thinking 'why is it good for a car dealer to have a crack in his floor???'

d/w, i gets it now

+1 for not telling insurer. they are kahhhnnnss.

my car has the exact same issue, i just happened to have a spare stagea (wreck) to cut the same section out. still havent talked to anyone about getting it put in but i should probably get around to it soon.....
