So yeah anyways someone tried to rip my car off last night....

but failed thank the son of rajab!

Anyways got into bed and noticed I could hear a more noise than usual but I just thought it was the wind n cars going by n stuff so thought nothing of it and went to sleep.

But while I was sleeping my precious 34 was getting the Randall Raines treatment lol but my alarm system worked the pre warning alarm bleeps went off and they must have sh*t themselves done a runner, i woke up this morning to find the boot lock had been jimmied out the boot and just sitting/dangling there and my drives side door had some slight damage, a few scratches and a paint chip that I don't think was there prior to their failed assault lol

To my disappointment I didn't see them so I couldn't chase after the little pricks but if I did I would have beaten their head in and gave em several for the r32foordoor dude with the white 34gt that got pinched last week.

GET YOUR OWN CARS YOU LOW LIFE SCUM! STOP TRYING TO STEAL FROM HARD WORKING NORMAL PEOPLE WITH JOBS!

Also just to add I don't think these where very smart crims because even if they did get into the cabin without making the alarm go off and they managed get past all the alarm and immobiliser gear & the fuel cut even if they did get it started the stupidly loud exhaust shakes my house and my neighbours windows & fence so I highly doubt that no one would wake up haha

In summary – get a good alarm combo & just to top it off get some straight pipes :blink:

holly shit.....good thing that the alarm worked lewis....straight pipes are very good investments lol......damn if only you caught them....keep your ear out mate as they might come and try again

Wow lucky man! I do have an alarm and immobiliser (Cyclops i think) but I want to upgrade it sometime in the near future given all of the stuff thats been going on lately. My alarm certainly keeps things secure, but the only thing it doesnt do is give warning beeps, which for me is important.

But it is auto and it wont move out of 'P' without the keys in and foot on the break, unless you know the secret and only a auto skyline owner would know lol

imagine if all the owners of other stolen cars took the same precautions as you did.........less than half the Skylines would be stolen and your premiums would be relatively reasonable.

Lewis, lucky mate. But be careful what u say about where you park you car on a forum. Some insurance companies want cars parked in a locked away garage over night, so things like this are harder to happen without braking into a garage.

i know a guy who has stolen a few cars over the years. scuuum.

one story was: cut padlock on guys fence, at night, while everyone is sleeping, break into three cars that are in the driveway, blocking the one he actualy wanted to steal, roll all of those out onto the street, then break into final car, roll it a block away before starting and driving home. once home he and his crew would spend all night with the oxy, cutting up the car and just leaving the bits they wanted (grinders make noise that will wake up the nieghbours).

whole things gone in a matter of hours.

a dog, a big fence with barbed wire, spotlights, cctv and a phalanx system just to be sure

      From when I was looking at getting the 86 engineered for the turbo, the joint said to put in a few euro 5 or 6 cats, then tune the car on a nice clean E85 tune When I was looking at a turbo for the MX5, it was basically the same thing, a couple of cats and a nice clean tune Although, it will depend on the year of the Jeep IRT emmisions standards required, and what mods are done, especially if it has a newer engine installed that requires a higher Euro

      Yeah - but it's not actually that easy. There are limits for HC, CO, NOx and particulates. Particulates shouldn't be a concern in any petrol engine unless trying to comply to the very latest Euro standard. But getting a tune right so that all the others stay within limits AT THE SAME TIME is not a trivial exercise. You couldn't possibly get it right by just guessing at the tuner's dyno, unless he had a 4 gas analyser up the pipe, which is not often the case these days. It used to be. Every decent shop that did "tune ups" (as opposed to tuning) would have a 4 gas analsyer. Perhaps there's still quite a few of them around these days. But most "tuners" are only watching O2 and power readings.

      Slight segway but the most expensive part of the whole thing which I would have thought would only be required for an engine size/type swap, not a VIV test, is emissions testing.  That's when you get into the big bucks.  I can't remember the exact price now but I got quotes for the GT-R based on swapping to RB30 (not that anyone bothers doing it legally anymore...) and it was around $4500 just for that alone.  The guy that does them manipulates the tune on the vehicle to make sure it passes.  The cheaper option is to book into Kangan Batman Tafe (I think that's where it was) and hire their tester.  Allegedly you're not allowed in there with the car though so not in a position to tweak anything to make sure the vehicle passes.  I'm sure in this day and age of ultra tuneable ECU's you could get the tuner to program a special efficiency (clean) tune that emits the lowest amount of particulates possible that would pass the test.  It might only make 50kW's but as long as it passed who cares!

      Does that price include the rack time to straighten the frame and body and replacement of parts and paint, as well as the noise and emmisions testing  The last engineering certificate I had done, albeit about 15 years ago, was around $1000 for a few inspections and the certificate
