Just had a major 80,000km service done on the V and thought I would post up the costs to share.

$88 - Full Wheel alignment

$162 - Supply & Fit 2 new Drive belts (was still running on original drive belts which were dry and hard)

$260 - Replace Transmission Service Oil - J-Matic, (2 x bottles) + drain overnight

$125 - Flush Brake System (has not been performed in 2+ years to my knowledge)

$320 - Supply & Fit 2 x new Rear Bendix Brakes, + Remove and machine Rear Rotors

$140 - Remove and machine Front Rotors, Filed down of uneven wear front pads for free

$320 - Full Service of Engine (80,000km) = 4 x hours Labour @$80

$98 - Supply Engine Oil

$18 - Supply oil filter

$162 - 6 x Platinum NGK Spark Plugs (I know I can get this cheaper on ebay $100USD but I was happy to go ahead with it to get over and done with.

Complimentary Detail and Vacuum

Total = $1727 +GST.

- Few things still require attention - lower front left/right control arm Bushes are broken/cracked - Needs replacing ($100USD delivered ebay Genuine nissan) + 3-4 hours labour to install (requires hydraulic Press)

Can anyone confirm if it takes this long?

- Rocker cover slightly leaking internally to centre coils - may cause damage to coils and plugs if unattended.

Anybody else had this same issue? how much did it cost you to replace/install?

I'm sure someones going to read this and point out where I got ripped off, but this was more an educational/convenience experience for me, as its the first car I've owned for more than 2 years and she's been very low maintenance up until this point. The mechanic is a 3min walk from my place, he was very knowledgeable about my car and friendly service orientated, he even let me watch and interact with the guys while most of everything was carried out so I got to learn alot about the state of my car and how its going to survive the next few years.

I have been to mechanics before where they have just changed my oil, replaced my pads and sent me on my way, while not raising any of the issues that this mechanic pointed out to me. So instead of ringing around to find other quotes to try and save give or take $50-$100 like I normally do I thought I would give this one a try. He also seemed very happy to quote me prices for parts so that I could compare them to ebay and he would just charge for install..

Overall I feel very happy with the end result, looking at all the old parts that were replaced this is something that I have been waiting to do for for a while now. My engine is sounding very healthy and the brakes are performing great with next to no noise..

Anyways if you feel like commenting please try not to make this thread about how much Jason got ripped off today because it discourages other people from sharing their experiences, and I'm sure at one point or another we have all been happy to pay a bit more for educational/good service..

Btw.. My spare NRG strut bar and K&N Air filter are still up for grabs if anyone is interested in coming to check them out (St.Peters, Sydney) - Have had a few low-ball offers which make me chuckle because ppl forget when comparing to ebay to include freight from US for a reasonably bulky item + conversion rate on paypal is not near what people think it is... So instead I will be happy to help you install them with my own tools on the spot if you come on the weekend.

Weekend is almost here! Does anyone else live closeby to the St.Peters area?

Have a good one!

The only thing that caught my eye was the $98 for supply engine oil, like wtf dude. I buy Motul 8100 for $49... I think at some places it's around the $70 mark, and that's pretty damn good oil. But hey they needa make money I spose eh?

I'm not mechanically minded at all, but what I would do is try and learn some basics so you can do those yourself but let the mechanics do the tricky stuff. (Like changing belts etc).

Just a thought... either way s'all good.

Yes I agree! thats why I used this experience to learn alot from the guy about what to look out for and how to remove things and put them back together.. Thanks or pointing out the engine oil I'll have to ask him why it costs so much next time I pop past..
